Can't get Acid 10 to record or to playback

CHRIS-TURNER4553 wrote on 12/12/2020, 5:27 PM

Using Acid Music Studio 10 - with Windows 10 - was working fine - installed Steinberg UR22 USB to be able to use external microphone - worked fine once - then ACID 10 - wanted to install UR 22 every time I opened it was unable to do so received "Installing " message but just never installed it.

Uninstalled ur 22 and now Acid 10 starts but if I try to record a new project i get "request is not enabled for this device" when I hit the record button. Also sometimes I get a "system low on memory" message along with the other message.

If you removed the interface, Acid doesn't have a way to record anything. When you go into Audio Setup tab in preferences, it probably says "Microsoft Win Mapper" or something like that. That is just on-board sound card chip that Acid is using to produce sound.

Thank you Aman, I did see the MS Win Mapper that you mention.

I deleted all of the loop files because I would never used them and that freed up over a Gig of space and I still get the "low memory" message.

I may just try to re-install it or go back to using hardware. I don't have much experience using the software but I prefer it to hardware.

Chris, the low memory space is not because of loops. That much I know but the exact reason, I am not sure. There were some other people that had the same issue with pretty much no solution. It is something with AcidPro.

That's good to know Aman. I will try to re-install when I get some time and post whether or not it resolves the issue.

I would still prefer to use a computerized program over hardware. I had installed a free program a few years back and I had recorded several tracks that suddenly evaporated on me.

I purchased Acid with the expectation that someone would be managing the software and communicating updates but to the best of my knowledge, this is not happening.

Somehow other people seem to be able to make it work.

Chris, once Acid pro works, you will be hooked. There is simply no other DAW on the planet with such simple layout and speedy workflow. I have been on it since the initial release. I am just one of the many users who is waiting for it to be fixed to the extent that it has minimal crashes and clunky GUI (when zoomed in). But in your case, i would do a clean un-install and a fresh install. My guess is you are doing a lot of live recording stuff, I would avoid installing anything else that comes with it. Just do the simple bare bone Acid Pro install. Do Not install the updater. Lot of people seemed to have similar issues as you when they install that nuisance. If you have questions about the use, message back here and I can help.

Hi

What is your computer specification - see this topic for details of what is required - it would help other users if you put the specification in your profile signature for future reference - see mine as an example.
