Hi,

Since this version of MM is now rather "old", is this actually a "re"installation following a computer upgrade, i.e. you have previously had the product installed on another computer?

If so, it is possible that the Magix licence server thinks you have already previously activated the product for the maximum number of allowed times.

In which case I suggest you raise a Support Ticket at http://support.magix.com

If this is not a reinstallation I think we need rather more details about how/why you are attempting to install a version that is now superceded by later editions.

Hi Jeff, it is rather old indeed. Why? Cause I had it laying around in my closet for a couple of years, forgetting all about it.

It has never been installed before; the box was even still sealed with a round little sticker, as were the dvd sleeves.

Magix support suggested that the serial code does not match the software, which would be rather old, since I took the disc out of the same sleeve I am reading the serial code from!

Interesting! I am currently awaiting a response from Magix to a very similar problem, in my case a new install of the latest MEP for which the supplied serial number produces an error message that the number is "invalid" or belongs to a "different product". So it's not only "old" versions that seem to be experiencing installation problems.

I'll let you know if/when I receive any reply/resolution, perhaps you could do the same?

Jeff,

before I installed I registered my product with Magix online (secretely wishing for a free upgrade after the install 😀).

Magix support then adviced me to download the install program from my registered products and use the same serial code.

And voila, that worked!

Don't no if it helps with your problem....
