Very simply, you could try a crude way, put a plug in the mic socket with nothing connected, should do as a temporary fix. If this doesn't work, not your internal mic(are you using a laptop) causing problem, find which mic is live.Go to 'mixer' control (bottom right of desktop, loudspeaker symbol) disable mic there (have you done this). Just a few ideas. Colin

Also, go into 'control panel'(of computer), then 'sound' then 'recording', ensure mic is not ticked. Colin

Hi

@scottstevens - please do not duplicate posts on the same topic - this will split responses resulting ia broken threads.

. . . .  I can still hear myself in the backround . . . .

Then you still have a live microphone open and its recording level is not at 0 in the Windows Sounds control panel

How did you disable the internal mic - in the laptop BIOS , Device Manager or the Sounds control panel?

The 'crude method' suggested by ColinJames1944 is to insert a 3.5mm stereo jack plug into the mic in or universal audio socket on your laptop - the plug has nothing connected it to so it should disable the internal mic - though this does not always work due to the detection method of a connected mic or earphones.

Does your headset have a mic attached or are you using earphones such as those from a smartphone with a mic?

Hi

. . . I disabled the internal mic with in the sounds control panel I am using cad headphones and a seperate cad usb mic . . . .

Assuming the sounds you are hearing are 'live' -

Try disabling the internal mic in Device Manager

Create 4 seperate test projects and add some soundpool sounds while talking under the following conditions:

  1. No headphones or USB mic plugged in

  2. Headphones only plugged in

  3. Headphones + USB mic plugged in

  4. USB mic only plugged in.

This should identify where the audio is coming from if it is 'live' ie happening as you work with MMM.

If the sounds in the original project are not 'live' then look at all tracks on the timeline to see if there is a rogue recording.

OK, have you set your operating system i.e Windows, Apple OS, that the only mic to be used for recording is the USB mic?

You have to set it like so...

Control Panel ====> Hardware and Sound ====> Sound ====> Recordings Tab ====> USB mic ====> set as the default recording device.

Now set it as the mic, set its recording level and if Magix is open close it and reopen.

Now, hit the program settings button in magix (press P) cause you need to set the default playback device through magix.

Go to

Audio/MIDI ====> Select speakers and heaphones as the playback device ====> Then select the direct sound driver (ASIO wont work for USB mic so I use direct sound)

Now you have done all of that you have to use the settings icon near the play and record buttons to use that mic you have just set up.

Click on that setting icon I just mentioned, in the dropdown menu, select your mic and hit OK. (You can also adjust mic volumes from this same menu.

Let me know how you go, I can help you more if this doesnt work. Hit me up on my profile for more help.

Came back to fix spelling errors, than had to update as I realized I left out a very important step.
