can simple text fields be added to menus and submenus in templates?

Is it possible to add simple text fields to menus and submenus in templates during the burning process?

Yes you can add but you cant add effects and fades.

Hi Ralph,

Here's an illustration showing you how to do it, as I'm assuming that's what you wanted to know.

Or for better quality: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4019461/MEP-AddingDVDMenuText.jpg

You'd follow a similar approach for chapter text.

Thanks for your time.

That is exactly what I wanted, and I can see how you can modify the properties of an existing menu item found on templates, but how does on add a new menu item, i.e. a text field, to an existing template?

Hi

. . . . how does on add a new menu item, i.e. a text field, to an existing template? . . .

Use the button (1) in the image below to add the button.

A dialog box opens in (2) you enter the text and at (3) set the action of the button.

Note: MEP puts a maximum of 6 chapter buttons on one menu page for some templates.  If you have 7 chapters you get one chapter menu with only 1 button

I have found that if you add a seventh button  to get chapters on one menu page then they do not work properly.

Thanks for the response! This is useful for new menu buttons, but is it possible to just add a text field, such as "Chapters" to indicate that this button takes you to a list of the chapters in the video?

Yes - just do not do step 3, leave it at the default No link

Hi Ralph,

DVD menu authoring isn't MEP's strongest feature but adding text like that can be done.

Hi John,

Nice - much neater than my method!

Hi Ralph,

Go for John's simpler approach.

Here's an illustration of the result for the example you gave:

Use the Arranger method for other customising that proves impossible otherwise.

IMO the 'Adds and extra button to the menu page' is misleadingly (not just carelessly) worded. It should be called something like 'Add text or a new button to the menu page'.

Hi

@Anirban

. . . . Yes you can add but you cant add effects and fades. . . . .

It is possible to do by faking the text button(s), however it is it a two stage process - below is my first attempt which works.

I am working on a single stage method - I do not think this may be successful because while adding titles to the timeline is possible in the Edit in Arranger mode - it appears you can not edit them!!!

Observe the word Play which is a 'working button'

Hi John,

Can you amplify on the problem you're having? I seem able to edit OK.

In this example I added the text as described in my previous post. Then I went back and added a fade in and previewed it. Then I added the flashing and a fade out.
