roger_playford wrote on 10/1/2014, 8:53 PM

Now when I run my program Audio Cleaning Lab 2014 I get a message on the bottom of the screen saying a new version is available. However, when I click on it, it downloads a file and then says installing. Then nothing happens. When I then close the program and re run it I get the same message again. Every time  I get this message and it is anoying. Why can it not complete the upgrade. Or how can I stop the pop up message. I have avast program as an anti-virus.

Hi,

It's a sanity test. You are insane if you keep repeating the same exercise hoping for a different outcome. I guess I'm insane.

I reported this one but I don't think they understood. It is a bug. You should report it as well. Even trying to update from Help, On-line update does the same thing; it downloads, a screen pops up saying that it is installing the upgrade, but nothing happens.

Here is the reply from Magix: "With regards to the update and re-activation, I cannot replicate this, it works fine for me. There may have just been a local issue with Windows Access rights or similar."

I managed to get the updates to 20.0.2.52 and 20.0.2.56 as follows. I went to support.magix.net, logged in and downloaded the patch and installed it from the downloaded file. This worked. However, when I started up AML, it asked me each time to activate registration, again. I don't think that it should do this, but it does. Anyway, it worked and I stopped getting the update message until today, so I updated to 20.0.2.56.

Here are the latest patches:

Changes with patch 20.0.2.56
- problem with Internet Explorer 8 solved

Changes with patch 20.0.2.52
- loading of projects with double click in Windows explorer didn't work -fixed
- vanishing edit fields for CD title and artist - fixed
- several fixes

Please send a message to Magix about this bug. I found a solution but others progbably won't.

Hi

Check in the program setting to see if there is an option to Hide news - in most Magix programs this is on the Sytem tab

@ John CB - If this works where do I send Psychiatric consultancy fee request!

Hi John,

Won't help my sanity much, but at least I wouldn't know that a patch was available. If I try the on-line update from the Help menu and a patch is available, then if I try to download and install it, I get back to the same vicious circle.

Right now, the only solution is to log in to Magix and download the patch. But then it asks me to register again. I have now registered 3 times, once when I purchased and twice for the 2 patches. I hope the next patch doesn't throw me out.

I will try again to get Magix to understand the problem.

Thanks,

Hi John

Agree with you about the reregistering - same here.

However I suspect this is part of the system, which iIRC you commented on in another post, that lets you install multiple tmes but use it on one computer at a time.

On the subject of the patches did you notice the small additional check box when a patch is found - AFAICS you have to check it to transfer your current program settings otherwise it does a reset.

Hi John,

No, I didn't notice the checkbox for the patch. I'll be more careful in the future. Thanks for that. I will try to capture the process in the future for downloads and updates.

I am hoping that you are right about the new registration scheme, however, when I mentioned it to Magix, the reply was: "With regards to the update and re-activation, I cannot replicate this, it works fine for me. There may have just been a local issue with Windows Access rights or similar." There was no mention of the new system. I raised the issue again.

Thanks,
