Can I record the MIDI keyboard in Grand Piano instead of Electric?

HeathersSongs wrote on 11/6/2015, 2:21 PM

Every time I get on MMM, I try to find away to record Grand Piano. Is there any way I can do that or if I can't, can I buy it somewhere or something? ? I have Version 18 for Windows 7, XP, Microsoft, ect. I've looked around everywere and looked it up on the internet and I still can't find an answer.

Hi HeatherSongs:

First of all, do you have any other imported Grand Piano VST's other than the ones that are generic to MMM (which ever version you're using)?  There are a few FREE Grand Piano VST's that can be imported into MMM to be used with your piano MIDI projects.  For example, here's one of the better ones (Tascam CVPiano: http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?id=382.  Remember, this is a 32-bit plugin.  If you're using the 64-bit version of your MMM product, you will need a program such as "JBridge". (https://jstuff.wordpress.com/jbridge/).  Unfortunately, JBridge v1.74 is NOT free.  However, you can use their DEMO program to verify if this suits your needs.  Sometimes, to get MMM to perform beyond its capabilities, it is necessary to implement third-party solutions.

Just wondering...  Is MMM the only DAW you use for music production?

Hope this helps somewhat.

I tried to download a VST Piano, but I can't find how to hook it up to MMM. Can some one tell me how? Thanks for the help.

Hello Heather:

Have you tried the VST plug-in the "Track Effects" in Mixer?  It will probably not be listed in the VST Instruments in the Media Pool.

Hi Heather,

The VST plugin should be installed in a location similar to this one below where I installed a grand piano instrument:

C:\Program Files (x86)\VSTPlugins\Third party\DVS

MusicMaker is 32bit so the VST needs to be 32bit as well. The root of the above path:

C:\Program Files (x86)\VSTPlugins

should already be scanned by MusicMaker as that is where plugins are normally supposed to be located.

If your dll is not there, then find where it is and add the path to it. Press on P for Program settings, go to the Folders tab, click on the Add VST plug-in path, navigate to the plug-in folder. The instrument should now show up in the Instruments tab.
