Can I re-install Magix Movie Edit Pro Download Version

rickduley wrote on 7/29/2012, 6:02 PM

I have Magix Movie Edit Pro Download Version and have the file movieeditpro_mx_plus_dlv_dlm.exe.  I have a problem with the program at the moment in that it insists in recording NTSC while I need PAL.  I thought I should uninstall it and reinstall.  Can I do that from the EXE?  I don't feel like buying the program again !

rickduley,

Reinstall should be no problem -- you might start with the 'Repair' option first to maybe save a bit of time.

What is you video source? If it is analog, eg from VHS tape, I'd think the PAL /NTSC setting would be associated with the capture device rather then MEP which can output any format irrespective of the original format.

Regards,

Carl

Hi Carl

I am capturing via a Kaiser Baas DVD Maker - a USB decoder.  It works just fine with MAGIX Video Easy SE so I don't think that that is the problem.

I tried running "Repair" but it stopped dead because:

ProductCode: {07171760-E5D7-4857-945D-F6FB93672EC3}

An installation package for the product MAGIX Movie Edit Pro MX Plus Download Version cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package 'Video_deluxe_MX_Plus_en-II_setup.ms_'."I searched my whole hard drive for that file but could not find it.  Can you suggest anything else before I go for the full "Uninstall".

Thanks for the help

Hi

If the correct USB converter drivers are installed there should be some format settings available when you select the recording device in MEP for you to set frame rate, size and PAL/NTSC etc, so a re-install may not be necessary.

If you really need to re-install then you must either:-

Download the software again and install

Or

The file you have found is the download manager/installer and not the software package which is an msi file - ms_ file is the compressed version.

If you can find the 'Videodeluxe_MX_Plus_en-II_setup.msi file then you can run this directly

Hi john

'Videodeluxe_MX_Plus_en-II_setup.msi' was not on my machine so I uninstalled MAGIX then downloaded 'movie_edit_pro_mx_plus_324mb_us.exe' and installed that.

Good news - I get some picture but it is still B&W.  When I open that program, on the screen headed "What do you want to do?"  the 'Movie Setting' is "PAL HDV1 720p 16:9 (1280:720; 25fps)".  I press OK, select ''Video'" and click the Red Button.  "Video Norm"  is shown as NTSC!  I get no picture or audio.  I click on 'Advanced"  and select Video Standard PAL60.  I get black and white.

The Kaiser Baas Dongle (USB 2861) I use delivers PAL, in colour, to Magix Video Easy SE so I don't think there is a problem with that.

I still need some help to get the colour back.

Thanks

Hi

PAL 60i is not a standard video format - it is an attempt to apply the PAL colour system to an NTSC signal.

As the USB dongle is delivering PAL and the advanced selection you have made is for NTSC you will only get black/white at best.

The advanced setting should be set to a standard PAL setting.

Hi John

In "Project/Movie Settings" I selected "PAL 16:9 (720x576; 25fps)".  MAGIX shows NTSC selected so I select Video and click on "Advanced" to select "PAL B".  These two settings work perfectly in MAGIZ Video Easy but in Pro I only get a Black Screen.

There must be a setting somewhere I have missed.
