Hi

Not a lot to go on here however MEP17 will open a MEP15 project providing you load the mvp file in to MEP and all the files ie video/images/audio, are located in the same folder as they were when you created the project in 15.

Can you see all the video/image/audio objects on the timeline?

If the files have been moved or deleted MEP will complain and ask for the location of the missing files - if you cancel this or the files are missing then you will see nothing in the preview window or on the timeline.

Hi

When you move a project from one computer to another I always maintain the same folder structure and naming convention.  So long as the objects are in the same relative position then MEP will pick them up by pointing it to the folder containing the missing object it is looking for.

This is the dialog that appears when the objects are not in the folder(s) where the project was oriinally created.

Clicking the Folder button opens a file open dialog for you to locate the missing object(s).

MEP will prompt you repeatedly if it cannot find the objects.

If you have saved the 'blank' project with the same name then it is probably gone.  However all may not be lost if there are some backup saves still in the project folder.

The filename for these is in the form xxxxxxxx_BAKn.MV_  where xxxxxxxx = the name of the project and n = a sequential number starting from 0.

If you have these files present then starting with the latest rchange the file extension to .MVP and then open it in MEP.

If these are not their do you have a backup copy of the project? If so copy the project mvp file to the current location of the project and try again.

I am very concious of losing data and make multiple backups to 3 external hard drives each one being an identical image of my working hard drive - these are powered up only when I do the backups or I need to recover files that I have deleted then find I need again.

HTH
