Can I place a commentary over my video?

I have Movie Edit Pro 2013 Plus. I have almost finnished a 40 min video and want to put two different audio commentaries over the video. If I had a big enough disk or lowered the video quality I could use three different videos with the different audio on each. There should be some sort of way that I can use the same video track and just use a different Audio track. So that when you are viewing the DVD in a DVD player you can switch between audio tracks and hear the commentary.

Hi

With a slight reduction in quality you should be able to get all three videos on to one DVD.

MEP does not support multiple audio tracks with selection, however, there is a work around using this procedure:-

 1.  With the project open record your first commentary track directly, once complete and you are happy with it, save the project and Mute all the tracks except the commentary track which you then export as an mp3 file - for later use.

2. Record the second commentary track and again export as in 1

3. Record the third commentary track and again export as in 1.

4. Close the project do not save with the commentary tracks as you will begin a new project to combine everything together and you keep the original intact.

5. Start a new project .

6. Using Files, Manage movies, Import select the project used above and import into the new project.

7. Repeat step 6 two more times, MEP will ask you if you want to import with a different name - do so.

8. Select each movie tab in turn and add the appropriate saved commentary mp3

9. Save the project.

10  On the Burn tab you will now have a menu with all three movies on it - change the template to your own requirements and burn to disc, adjusting the bitrate if MEP advises you to do so.

I recommend you use a rewriteable DVD for testing so you do not waste discs if there are changes required.

Hi John,

When I get time I aim to try those steps. I may have misunderstood on a first reading, but I assume that will let me switch 'chapters' during DVD playing to get the other alternative soundtracks? So I could show a family holiday DVD with a choice of music, either to keep my wife happy or match my mood? But wouldn't that mean restarting playback from the beginning?

Hi Terry

You are correct you would need to restart from the beginning as there are three separate videos not one divided into chapters.

Video Pro X4 supports multi selectable audio tracks
