dereklj wrote on 4/23/2014, 9:28 AM

Hi there

I have purchased the Focusrite iTrack solo interface so I can listen to what I am recording and I have the Scarlett plug in suite for free that automatically comes with it.

I have downloaded the plug in suite and I am ready to put the code in, but I cannot find it in my music maker premium version software ?

Can anyone help ?

Thank you in advance

Derek

To answer your question I got to break it down

"I have purchased the Focusrite iTrack solo interface so I can listen to what I am recording"

Please do not forget Magix Music Maker is not full DAW, therefore it will only record one channel at a time.

"I have downloaded the plug in suite"

No doubt Focusrite plug in suite is great but may be free version will need update. Other than that as per Focusrite website plug in suite need activation

"Software Activation
The Scarlett Plug-in Suite requires you to activate the software before you are able to use it. Activation requires internet access, however this is not specifically required on the computer on which the plug-ins are installed.
Here are the steps required to activate your plug-ins.
1. Open your DAW of choice.
2. Open any one of the plug-ins in the Suite in the same manner as you would open any other VST or AU plug-in in your DAW.
On opening the plug-in an activation window will appear"

http://us.focusrite.com/plug-ins/scarlett-plug-in-suite/downloads

Usually if we want to use vst plugin in Music Maker we got to put them/copy them inside the Synth folder of the Music Maker. Next time when we start Music Maker we can see newly installed vst plugins but not always. Some plugins will not work.

Hope above answer will give you some hints at least.

Hi Nihon 94,

As you can tell I am new to this lol.

As mentioned above I have the iTrack solo, a microphone for recording my voice, a microphone stand and a decent set of headphones, I know I have the option of putting the music I make on to a CD using the Magix software and I also know that I have to activate the Scalett plug in.

I have already downloaded the Scarlett plug in software to my laptop but can't even activate the it to use it ?

Do I have a DAW on my laptop to use the plug in ?

When I open the Magix music maker and go to program settings which is the 4th icon along, I have an option there that gives the choice of "General options" "Import" "Adio/Midi" "Video" "Folders" and I still can't find what I am looking for lol.

Is there any way of just putting what i need to do in to really simple form for me please ?

I know I sound quite stupid lol but I need instructions from scratch lol

I know how to get to the program settings and that is as far as I can manage ?

Thank you again for your help with this situation

Derek

I know I have the option of putting the music I make on to a CD using the Magix software

Yes that is correct.

That is correct too.

I have already downloaded the Scarlett plug in software to my laptop but can't even activate the it to use it ?

To use it you have to activate, I had given you a link in my previous reply that pdf will explain how to activate.

Do I have a DAW on my laptop to use the plug in ?

DAW= Digital Audio Workstation unfortunately Magix Music Maker is not DAW but we can add VST Plugins but not all. Also unless you tell us what version of Music Maker are you using how could we help?

You can not find anything unless you connect your Microphone first by following PDF tutorial. After that you must activate your Plugins please read my previous answer.

Is there any way of just putting what i need to do in to really simple form for me please ?

Please do first as I told you to simplify the matter

Therre is a 249 page How-To/Help manual thaat comes free, at no extra charge, with your MM purchase.  You  need to read it.....soon.  I will give you a clue, as you seem to need a lot of them....open MM, at the top of the program and a litle to the right is a HELP link...click on it.

Derek,

You received a manual with the iTrack. Read it. Follow the instructions. You received a CD with the Windows driver. If not, download it from the Focusrite site. Install it for Windows as per the manual. Look at page 9 and onwards in the manual. Follow the instructions. I am not going to reproduce them here. The settings in MMM are similar to what is in the instruction manual.

Let us know when you get that done and if it works. If it doesn't, give us details as to what you did, how you set it up, in detail. Look at the MMM manual as well for recording.

Fo now, ignore the Scarlett plugins. You don't need them to use your mic.
