Can I Make A Track Transition from One Effect To Another?

Have you ever heard a song where, before the drop, the cutoff from a certain melody or sound rises to full cutoff before the drop, or any other effect transition on a sound or melody takes place?

I have been trying to achieve this transition effect for two years on this program now (Music Maker 2016 Premium), And for one transition (That still isn't even scratching the surface of decent), it takes approximately eight tracks. It doesn't even sound that good.

So, is there any way that I can gradually change a sound or melody from one effect to another so that it sounds something like this?
(Skip to 1:30 on the video to hear the effect I'd like)

Thank you!

Hi

You can 'automate' many effects on the instruments using the MIDI Editor, use the tools indicated in the image below to edit the automation curves.

The tools from top to bottom are pick/select, free hand curve drawing, linear curve drawing and MIDI effect selection as shown in the second image

Here is an example of the Vita cut-off effect set as seen in image 1.

The first 19 secs are the original with no automation, then with automation.
