Hi

Depends on what you mean by edit both in one screen.

Taking the statement literally you cannot open two projects and edit them independantly at the same time.

What you can do is :-

1.  Incorporate the second project into the first - you will now have two movies in the first project which you can copy and paste between by switching movies using the film reel icon below the preview monitor.  Down side is if you save the project with the original name you will lose the original single move project.

a better way is:-

1.  Export each movie from the two projects using File, Manage movies, Export  - note this only exports the information about the objects used, transitions etc to a file with a .mvd extension, it does not export to a single video file. This retains all the editing information.

2. Starting with a new project.  Using File Manage movies, Import locate and import the two mvd files created in step 2

3.  Save the new project then edit as required.

The reasoning for useing the better way is: -

a)   You retain your original projects with their editting, transitions etc.

b)   Exporting as mvd files allows you to import, into the new project, all the editting decisions you have made without affecting the original projects.

c)   With the new project you can merge sections of the two movies as described above and then if you only want a single movie, detach the unwanted movie from the project and still have this for future use.

@john, you nailed it.  I have been trying to figure out how to explain how to do this, and as usual, you come along with a great and easy to understand answer.  It is funny, sometimes, you know the answer, try to write it down and it is not nearly as clear in text as it is in your mind.  Very well done!

@Bondmaster2, this is probably the best answer you will get to this question, and if there is something you don't understand about it, ask another question.  John will help you understand it.
