Can I create a Soundpool from scratch?

So I purchased Music Maker 2018 recently and love the overall structure am having a blast with it. I have been making a few new MIDI files with my own beats and melodies. My question is:

Can I create a Soundpool from scratch?

I see the basic structure of the included pool as well as ones I "purchased" with my vouchers. I duplicated the structure, deleted all files in the subfolders (.MXOGG). I left the BPM.inf and created two new cover files (cover_128x128.png & cover_600x600.png). Based on previous threads, I DID remove the "_msi_keyfile_..." files as they are put there by Microsoft's installer.

Soundpool Folder Name ("Custom Pool" in this case)
|--- Bass
|--- Brass
|--- Drums (contains ONE .MID file)
|--- Fx
|--- Keys
|--- Percussion
|--- Sequence
|--- Strings
|--- Synth
|--- Vocals
|--- BPM.inf
|--- cover_128x128.png
|--- cover_600x600.png

With this basic structure and ONE MIDI (.MID) file in ONE subfolder (Drums in this case). I tried to add the Soundpool to see if it would show. I figured I could simply rescan the Soundpools later to update.

This pool does not show up. Am I missing something? The file structure seems very basic and I would expect MMM to import the pool with no issues. I did NOT change the BPM.inf file at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.😁

Hi, welcome to the Magix forums.

Since the file format .mxcogg, needed for the Soundpools, is proprietary to Magix, I suspect the answer to your question is No.

I believe it IS possible. The software shows that you can display Audio Loops and MIDI Loops in your Soundpools. In addition, there are previous threads on these very forums showing success in adding a custom pool. The devil is in the details and I am missing some details. 😜

Seems I get to answer my own question. I would like to thank emmrecs (Jeff) for making me think about the file format.

I imported my .MID file and assigned the Vita2 instrument, set the length to one beat and right clicked on the object, select "Additional Options", then "Save as Take". This will save the object in a .TAK file format. This retains the object information.

I then put this one file in the "Drums" folder and tried to add the library again. Eureka! The Soundpool showed up with my own custom icon and one folder with a single loop present.

I hope that helps other people out. I presume you can save any file as a "Take" and duplicate this process.

I think you can

I think you name your wave files 1,2,3,4, for the different keys and include bpm information in the folder name
