Hi,

Can I buy a style in music maker jam(Android), compose music, buy a license for that style in music maker(Desktop) and use it commercially. I am little confused here because I want to compose music on my android device on Music maker jam(Android) not Music maker(Desktop) and then use it.

Please help. Thanks.

Hi

Using Music Maker Jam for commercial use is not very practical for the following reasons because of its limited editing facilities and no optimisation tools.

Irrespective of whether you are using Music Maker Jam or Music Maker you must have the appropriate licences - see this post , this post  and this post

Hi John,

Thanks for your response.

Sure, but I wanted to know if I buy a audio pro license for a style from catooh then can I use the same style on my android app & make music & sell it(just want to know)?

For e.g. If I buy a xyz style with unlimited license and download it on my PC. Will I be able to download same style on my android app and use it? Or is it applicable only to PC? Also, what is the difference between a soundpool and a style, are they different? Please confirm.

Also, I did not quite understand the copyright post.

So If I compose a music, will I not have the copyright of it inspite of buying the unlimited license?

Thanks in advance! :)

Hi

. . . . If I buy a xyz style with unlimited license and download it on my PC. Will I be able to download same style on my android app and use it? . . . .

AFAIK there is no way to get styles / soundpools from PC to Music Maker Jam.

It does work the other way round - you buy and download the style into Music Maker Jam (MMMJAM) and then when you import the project from MMMJAM into Music Maker (MMM)  the styles / soundpools are download into MMM.

In my experience with MMMJAM you do need to finish the project in MMM.

. . . . what is the difference between a soundpool and a style . . . .

To all intents and purposes they are the same.

. . . . If I compose a music, will I not have the copyright of it inspite of buying the unlimited license? . . . .

No - if you  use the styles / soundpools only, copyright of those sounds still belongs to Magix, you have a licence to use them to create music.

For commercial use you need a Pro licence for all the soundpools used, then you can use that music under the terms of that licence.  There is a good comparison chart of what is allowed with the different licence types here.

For you to totally own the copyright you will need to use Music Maker, write and create an original piece of music, and use Synthesizers within MMM to create the required melodies etc.

If you use a mix of the above then you can only claim copyright for the parts that you wrote, created and played - this does include using the MIDI editor to 'write' the notes etc.
