Yeah, Me Too! I just bought a new desktop to replace my aching one, and want to load it up with the software that I've invested thousands into over the years...  I hope we get an answer!

If I can pop in, this is just a "shot in the dark" guess, but would downloading the Trial from the MAGIX site and then using the Serial from the www.sonycreativesoftware.com site (where you can still login and get your Serial Numbers for the products you purcahsed) work?
I don't have anything I need to re-install, but that's what I would try, if I had to re-download any of the Sony programs I have...

Munenushi is correct with the answer on 2-October.  I needed to reinstall Sound Forge 11 on a new computer. I simply downloaded the Trial from the Magix site and then registered using my serial number. It was no different, and no more difficult than doing the same from the Sony Creative site.

So no, it's not a rip-off, nothing to worry about so far.
