I'm building a new computer and Would like some suggestions as per specs to get the most out of the magix program. Where is the most power needed... Graphic card, cpu/motherboard/ Ram......combination...suggestions??
That is a difficult question as you will get personal preferences and It also depends how much you want to spend?
IMO you need at least the following:
Processor: Intel i5 or i7 Gen 4 CPU - AMD (IMO) are not a match when it comes to video processing.
Graphics: I use the integrated HD4600 and find it better than the ATI and NVidias I have tested.
RAM: at least 16 GB preferably 32 GB - high speed matched pairs.
Motherboard: a high performance board with dual channel RAM sockets and will hold 32 GB of RAM minimum, SATA 3 (6GB) bus
Hardrives: minimum 2 x SATA 3 drives one for the OS and programs, the other for data. Preferably a third HDD so that you render from the second drive to the third and have a one way flow of data - reduces bottlenecks on the SATA bus that can occur if you render to the same drive as you are reading from.
IMO You should never use the same drive as the OS which also reads / write to the drive the OS is installed on.
DVD or BD writer - a branded drive eg LG, Sony, Pioneer etc
It is important that the motherboard, RAM, PCIe and SATA match in specification the attached processor, RAM and peripherals.
If you are in the UK then you are looking at spending £800 +
Just out of interest..... You suggest to the OP that he consider "RAM: at least 16 GB preferably 32 GB". I've put 16 GB in my machine but I've never noticed usage of more than about 5, even when MEP 2015 Plus is working hard. Are there settings you can change to encourage Magix to use more of the available RAM please?
