bug: VST settings not remembered (ValhallaDSP)

tim-n wrote on 7/7/2019, 7:46 AM

I'm using ValhallaDSP's ValhallaRoom. How to reproduce this bug:

1. add ValhallaRoom to the plug-in chain

2. change some parameters in the VST (mix, predelay...)

3. close the VST window

4. open the VST window

When it's reopened the parameters are back to the default. And you can hear it, it's not just visual.

Sound Forge 13.0 build 76, 64 bit.

- Does ValhallaRoom exhibit the same behavior in previous versions of Sound Forge?
- Are you using ValhallaRoom as a single Fx plug-in or in the chainer? *
- Do other ValhallaDSP plugs exhibit this behavior?

* In Sound Forge Pro's single plug-in mode, when the VST window is closed, this is normal for all VST plug-ins, which revert to the plug-in's default preset. In the Fx chainer, the settings remain when the window is closed (hidden). If this is the case, I can only suggest, opening the plug-in in the chainer or create a user preset for the plug.

btw, Direct X (DX) plug-ins usually hold the last used settings in the single plug-in mode.

I don't know.

In the chainer. (View -> Plug-in Chain)

Yes. You can try with their free Freq Echo: https://valhalladsp.com/shop/delay/valhalla-freq-echo/

So far it didn't happen with other VSTs that I tried, only ValhallaDSP ones.

Hi Tim, the GUI certainly is messed up with the 'Valhalla Freq. Echo' as well in the chainer mode. It operates normally by itself as a single insert Fx plug-in or in the 'FX Favorites> Apply Plug-in Chain' mode. But when added in the 'View> Plug-in Chain' mode, the GUI behaves oddly... for instance after adjusting one parameter, clicking on the next parameter (or anywhere else for that matter) resets the previous... bizarre. upon further testing... the 64 bit version of the 'Valhalla Freq. Echo' does not seem to have the 32 bit versions GUI anomaly. However, the preset issue still reverts to the default like the 32 bit version. Basically the same behavior in SF Pro 12

I will bring this up to my Magix Sound Forge developer team contact, but you should also file a tech support request.... and notify Valhalla as well. Unfortunately this makes the Valhalla plug-ins unusable with the Sound Forge Pro FX chainer
