Brightness defaults back to 50 in Video Pro X6

Anybody know how to stop the Brightness setting from changing back to 50 when the program is loaded.

I have a timeline with lots of colour correction.  All is well.  Next time I open the project some of the brightness levels have reverted back to 50!

Hi,

I tried a few tests on a split up clip, one with brightness only, others with various simple video effects including brightness, color correction, sharpness. Saved. Closed and reopened X6. No problems. Make sure that you have the latest patch. Make sure that you actually click on the clip and not just place the playback marker over the clip without clicking on the clip.

Thanks John,

I'll try the latest patch.  It's numbered the same as the version I have at the moment - 13.0.4.2, but that may not mean anything.

Maybe that means it's for version 13.0.4.2??

Found the solution!

VPX6, at the moment, is not able to import DSLR footage without crushing the blacks (it reads the colour space flag incorrectly - so do some other NLEs).

If you try to correct the dark clip using Brightness, not in all cases, but in enough of them, the level will revert to 50 on the next loading of the project.

As a workaround, I transcoded my DSLR footage to MPEG2 HDV and imported it into VPX6. Changed the Brightness, aved, closed and reopened the project.  Brightness level held.

So, DSLR footage, must be transcoded to a format that enables VPX6 to read the Colour Space flag correctly.

I've informed Magix Support about this.  Until this is fixed, Native DSLR is not reliably supported.
