Border Around Object

poppo wrote on 7/31/2016, 9:59 AM

When keying chroma key green screen when I use the option Stamp or Color I get a light black border line that shows around my video object not the subject but the square edges of the video - I've tried everything like editing the section proportions, changine where the object is in the layer. So for example I have my video object of a person chroma keyed on top of a background there is a black line that shows the edge of the object on top. I've read around the forums and there are several similar issues

Hi

Which version of Movie Edit Pro are you using - please give its full name and version number available under Help, About?

Does this occur with one partcular video object or all ?

Is the background object a still image or video clip?

Can you post a screen shot of the edge of the top object as it appears in MEP ?

Hi,

Probably you use the 2016 Movie Edit Pro and use the extract function after chromakey effet, be sure to use a background picture the same sime as your movie size on video track1, use your movie on track2, applied to the track2 the chromakey function using the color button avoid the stamp button. When  you use the color button, this open a message telling to draw on the green screen a small rectangle to indicate which color range you need to become transparent (use a rectangle area where green is less uniform). After you can use 3 sliders to generate the best transparency. Now this is made, use you function Extract, use free Proportion and remove the check mark full screen, adjust on the viewer screen the size you need to extract using handles, after you can use the function Position/Size, using handles to adjust the size and move to appropriate place on the view screen.

The other way is: track 1= background picture

Track 2= Filter + Alpha keying

Track 3= Movie + Chromakey.

The advantage is the filter is designed to block partially the track 3 as the same role than extract. See the picture

The filter block everuthing in black on the track 3 leaving the transparency to pass from the track 3 to the background track 1.

Hi,

This is for John and poppo, check this link I recreate this problem using extract function and moving the extract on the screen, the Magix version is Movie Edit 2016. Everything work nice but the extract fonction works well if this is not moved using keyframes.

Hi

@YR

I can also duplicate this for any coloured chromakey.

I have found that  white, black and Alpha do not give a black border.

Can you confirm that this also happens with you please ?

The issue appears to be caused by the software created alpha mask moving 1 pixel behind the chromakeyed video and I suspect this does not happen with the white, black and alpha chromakey because no alpha mask is required.

Hi John,

I just made for you a way to bypass this problem, check on my website :

http://www.protuto.com/john1/john1.html

I work only with a green or blue screen I use only Alpha key with filter acting like blocking area similar to extract or section.

I am in preparation a French tutorial on grren screen using Magix 2016.

Hi YR

Thank you for the tutorial.

I followed your tutorial and I have come to the conclusion that Color option and the Stamp ( Temps ) option either have:

  1. different tolerances in selecting the colour to be keyed.

    OR

  2. different method of working - ie the Stamp option makes all the selected colour pixels transparent and the Color option creates an alpha mask.

The second time you click the green button - the chromakey changes from the Color option to the Stamp option - this can be seen by the effect name at the end of the video clip name changing from 'Transparent'  ( Extrait transparent ) to 'Green box'  ( Extrait Boite verte ) as can be seen in your video clip.

Thank you for that yvon-robert - I see where you recreated it and yes that was totally the issue. I was following the same procedure as you described using the color button instead and the box etc, but was then getting the dire green glow outline no matter how much I adjusted it. Obviously slightly bad green screen. I also tried the resizing  free, but was still getting the outline.  What I havent tried is Alpha Keying. I also use after effects but Don't think magix can read the transparent background files. Do you know the answer to this?

So here is what I finally did to get rid of the lines I had to make my objects full screen to rid them of the line.

yvon-robert wrote on 8/1/2016, 11:50 PM

Hi,

I just made a draft tuto on green screen with animation using Extrait or section, since my software is in French if you are not allergic to French check this link:

http://www.protuto.com/MagixGreenScreen1/MagixGreenScreen1.html

May be the stamp button the software analyse all the green surface and calculate the average of the green pixels sometimes gives better result. The right way is to use the color button using the 3 sliding cursor.

Well Yvon Robert how easy was that to get rid of black border while using color tool, I never thought to click it twice. Perfect.  Thank you so much for that info.

Hi

@ poppo

. . . . while using color tool, I never thought to click it twice . . . .

To clarify - when you click the green button the Color tool effect is removed and the Stamp tool applied - you can only apply one Chromakey option to a single clip - see my previous post.

Hello everyone,

I was reading the comments in this post because a I have the same black border problem with my product Video deluxe MX Premium Sonderedition when I create a mp4 video from my proyect. In the edit mode from Magix no black border appears. I was trying with different chroma filters but I am still having the same problem. I have noted in my video that when I use an animation in some images in my video, the black border appears only when the size of the images are increased or reduced (like the example video from John)! With animations without size changing I have no problem and not black border.

I have already tried what is recommended in the post but the border is still there. :( I am using the same green background color in all of my images. Any help would be appreciated.

Thansk in advanced,
KAS
