Blue screen in sf 11 & 10

geoffrey-collier wrote on 6/28/2018, 10:30 AM

Both earlier versions of SF cause a blue screen when I attempt to start them.  The error message is:

stdriverXC64.sys

page fault in nopaged area.

SF 10 worked fine for years, but when I installed SF 11 this started happening. I uninstalled and reinstalled both, problem did not go away (samp and other apps work fine). Magix says it will ignore support questions about versions before 12. I hesitate to upgrade to 12 for obvious reasons.

Help desperately needed! Thanks.

When you uninstalled, did you use a third-party uninstaller? The standard Win uninstaller, leaves behind a lot of the registry entries.. usually the ones that cause problems. I would recommend uninstalling both 10 and 11 with the Revo Uninstaller for instance, then additionally clean the reg, Cold boot the PC, then reinstall version 10 only. Personally I could live without SF 11 and there is not a whole lot of difference between Pro 10 and 11, except SCS screwed up the Plug-in chainer and Record interface. (the Pro 11 'Statistics' process to show LU loudness values is nice though).

Thanks for the ideas. I'll try them. OR..... I just installed the SF12 trial, and it loaded with no problems. I may just pay for the upgrade. Do you know whether these problems were fixed in 12?

The main thing that drove me nuts about 10 was that you couldn't reorder the tabs....a simple thing, but I really wanted it.

I never used the AS versions until 12 as I was one of the SF beta testers. I don't recall much about the tabs except the UI is different from the pro version, which I primarily use, so AS12 felt somewhat foreign to me.

As I understand, AS12 is a complete new build so any former bugs are probably no more. It's been updated quite a few times even since the public release and updating it now requires nothing more than clicking 'update' in the menu.

I'm using the full version. I assume by AS you are referring to audio studio. I downloaded the trial for that by accident, but switched over to the trial for the full version. Does the "complete new build" apply only to AS or to SF too? The fact that SF is now 64 bit is a reason alone to upgrade.

Not totally sure, I think Pro 12 is just 'improved'.. 64 bit and such. Except for some toolbar icons, the GUI is almost identical to previous Pro versions. A 32 bit version of Pro 12 is also available. I was thinking of installing that since some of my favorite Direct X plug-ins do not work with it, i.e., the iZotope mastering suites I and II, that were included with SF Pro 10 & 11, and the old DX Sonitus Ultrafunk Suite, but that has duplicate VSTs, so it's a minor inconvenience).

As I stated, your SF blue screen issue is uncommon.

Using SF Pro 11.0 on my new laptop, 16GB of memory. Keep getting an intermittent blue screen while editing. Any ideas? My very knowledgable tech is stumped. Never have this issue on my desktop. Thanks...
