I currently own a Flip Video camera, of which the video format is MP4 (720 X 480). This is not compatible with Magix 14. I would like to know your recommended solution to this issue. What format would you recommend? Or other solutions. Please do not suggest using another video camera.
I use Tunebite (www.tunebite.com) for file conversions. It converts everything (video, audio, I mean everything). It costs a little money but it is well worth it.
Movie Edit Pro 14 does support MP4 files, but you'd have to activate the MPEG-4 codec first, which is an optional, paid-for activation in the classic version. If you got the "plus" version of Movie Edit Pro 14 or 15, this activation is already covered by the program price. So, you might want to consider an upgrade to the current 15 Plus for hassle-free MP4 handling.
Alternatively, you could try a conversion. Check out the following free program to repack MP4 files into AVI containers:
Depending on what MPEG-4 codec is being used in those files (i.e. just MPEG-4 ISO or H.264), you need to make sure to have an appropriate DirectShow codec installed on your system to successfully import the resulting AVI file, e.g. DivX for MPEG ISO.
