Best Keyboard for Magix Help

dnroper wrote on 1/28/2014, 4:06 PM

Hi All

Have been using Magix for a while. Have bought the 14 edition and a couple of soundpools (18+19) recently

Have just bought an Akai MPK mini + Korg Kaossilator Pro3 and Korg Kaoss pad. I would like to buy a better controller keyboard/synth as the Mpk is limited and I cant get it to work with Magix.

Am looking at a Microkorg. does Magix work with it?

Any other keyboard suggestions? Ive got a £200 limit. Happy to buy second hand tho

Thanks for any tips!

Dave.

Hi Dave,

You say you can't get the MPK to work with Magix Music Maker (MMM). It has a USB connection to the computer, thus you should be able to use it. Go to the tutorials section of this forum and you will see a tutorial on how to connect a keyboard to the computer and make it work with MMM. You have to go into the setup parameters to select your keyboard as the midi input device. Check also in the manual.

Let us know how you make out.

Not knowing  your set-up....as you add stuff to your music workshop, do so one at a time and ensure everything works to yur saatisfaction before plugging in anything else...if all is OK, add your second piece of gear and agaaain ensure EVERYTHING still works as before proceeding...all it takes is one wrong conneation or one wrong parameter or an incorrect instructiion and nothing will work and you will spend a lot of time and if you are llucky, figure it all out.

Hi

My recommendation is to get a 49 key USB controller - any thing less you spend too much time changing octaves, with pitch bend and modulation wheels and velocity sensitive keys.  Good examples can be bought for £150 or less - keep an eye out for end of line models - you can get some good deals.

Consider if you need all the bells and whistles that some controllers have like programmable switches , sound etc .
