Beatbox 2 instrument went missing when upgrading to latest version

daveabove wrote on 9/18/2021, 4:44 AM

Hi, I have been using purchased version of Music maker. I upgraded to the last version of Music Maker and in the process Beatbox 2 instrument went missing. I opened an old song file I had made and a box popped up saying "beatbox2.syn that belongs to the project could not be found"

I then clicked on the "Folder" option on the "File not found" box. Beatbox2.syn was in the list of files so I clicked on it, but another box came up saying "beatbox2.syn cannot be read by Magix Music Maker".

I cannot find the instrument in the instruments that I own or that are available to buy including in the Additional instruments.section.

I tried pressing Download All but it was not there to be downloaded.

Can someone help with this issue. Cheers

@daveabove What was your old version of Music Maker? Support for syn-files was removed in version 2021 if I remember it correctly. Beatbox is now a VST3 instrument and you just need to make it visible by clicking the icon in the top bar. You need to download the plus version of Beatbox from the in-app-store.

I would suggest you install the old version of Music Maker alongside the new version in a different directory so you can still open old projects that use syn-instruments.

Hi,

Beatbox2 and some other synths went missing in MMM2017.

I have MM premium 2014, MM 2016 upgrade, MM 2017 upgrade, MM 2019 Edition and 2020 version. I deleted one of the past versions after I upgraded. I think version was 2019 I deleted, or maybe it was 2020 version, not sure. How do I reload old version I deleted. I downloaded the older version over internet.

"Beatbox is now a VST3 instrument and you just need to make it visible by clicking the icon in the top bar. You need to download the plus version of Beatbox from the in-app-store" - which icon on the top bar are you referring to? Dont know which you mean. Cheers

@daveabove

Not sure what you are doing. Did you watch the video?

The new Beatbox comes with Music Maker 2022 by default. All Editions - Free and Plus, get Beatbox, but Premium gets Beatbox Pro.

Which version do you actually have?

If you have Music Maker 2022, did you log in and download everything under Downloads?

Sorry wasnt sure exactly what version I was using. But I have now found out I am using 2019 Premium Edition.

Hi,

Then my video applies. Beatbox was removed after MMM2016.

To get the new Beatbox, you need to install MMM2022. It's free, so you can install it, but make sure to not let it uninstall the previous version. MMM2022 is 64 bit, 2019 is 32 bit, so you will need to use 64 bit VST's unless you purchase Plus or Premium Edition 2022. After logging, make sure that it detects that you had 2019 Premium Edition so that you get what you had. It's not instantaneous and you may have to wait 20 or 30 seconds. You will have a lot to download and install under Downloads.

My system is saying I am using 64 bit, and using 2019 edition. See image. Could it be Ive updated to a more recent free version but is only telling me which last purchased version I used. That might be whats confusing me.

SP. wrote on 9/21/2021, 4:06 AM

@daveabove The first 64 bit version of Music Maker was Music Maker 2021. In the screenshot it looks like you use Music Maker 2021 with a 2019 Premium Edition license. This means you updated to version 2021 which has no support for the syn-version of Beatbox. And the VST3 version of Beatbox was introduced just in version 2022.

Yes! Just to be clear, updating to any recent version of MM means you are running the core (free) edition. Upgrades to Plus or Premium editions of those versions are by means of purchase of the upgrade(s).

As Jeff pointed out, Music Maker is free; it is a Version of the program. Editions, are not free.

The current version is 2022 (30.0.2.30). Here is what the startup screen looks like for 2022.

When you log in, you will see that you have Music Maker 2019 Premium Edition with Version 30.xxx of the program.

You can upgrade to 2022 by downloading the Free Version (there is only one version of the program). Log in. Download everything under Downloads. Note what is new on the Comparison chart on Magix.com to see if you want/need to purchase an Edition, like 2022 Premium Edition.

Thank you all for your help.

Non of the suggestions above match the solution that I need.

I just find it very odd that somehow if I want to reinstall the Music Maker 2013 - that now it no longer contains the Beatbox2 synth.

@MagixSupport - how can I get a previous version of Music Maker 2013 active again...containing all the features as they were at the time.

Need this to update older projects.

Thanks
