AVI & WMV import problems

citrail wrote on 8/6/2012, 1:59 PM

I've been using Magix movie maker Edit Pro14plus now for about 4 years without any problem, but now when I try to import a video of either AVI, WMV or MPEG type, it will only play part of the audio or visual track, sometimes reducing the imported video to about 2mins or 30 mins for a longer video.

Any advise would be fantastic, I've tried everything I can think of. I've even done a complete reset.

Many thanks Ken

Hi Ken,

A couple of questions for you on this problem

1. What are your system specs by that I mean how much RAM do you have, what version of windows are you running, etc.

2. What is the size of the file you are trying to import and have you been able to import similar sized files in the past?

3. Have you updated the application and applied all available patches.  Your version of MEP is pretty old.

4. Have you downloaded the latest trial version of MEP (now version 18) I think to see if you still have the same problem?

All the best

Thanks for your reply George. I'm running windows XP but it's even older than my edit pro 14 and I think the memory is about full.

I've deleted everything I can think of but it's still leaving me with only 11% freespace. I've really no idea about the technical details of my system other than it's 7 years old now and powered by steam I'll have a look a the repair patch you mentioned and possibly the newer trial version, but somehow I don't think I'll have enough freespace to download it  I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks again. Ken

Hi again George

I downloaded edit pro18 plus (trial version) and it worked fine, although I found it harder to use than the 14 version. One thing I'd like to know is, if I buy the 18mx version will I be able to transfer it to my new PC whenever I get it?

Many thanks for your help and time. Ken
