AVG doubting the safety of a MAGIX file!

Prog X86 MAGIX AUDIO CLEANING LAB/DVDAUDIO.DLL

Alleged to be potentially dangerous!. I doubt it.... I left it where it was thinking it may have been an answer to a problem that has irritated me and defeated MAGIX in seeking a cause.

I use a DVD Recorder to create a master from and LP on a 'MUSIC Disk, especially formatted for recording done in this fashion. However many tracks I recorded, when transferring in my PC into Magix for editing it always skips track one and jumps to track 2 using MX!!! I have tried all sorts of tricks to get past it with no success. I now transfer my CDR master to Magix using Vers. 17 and edit with     MX. I use Winy a Pioneer CD ecorder and Magix as above.

I don't use headphones to PC as my wife says " too many wires".

Hi

That is one of the reasons I stopped using AVG - it was giving too many false positives - the other reason was the later versions became 'top heavy' and began affecting the performance of my computer (as did Symantec and McCafee antivirus).

I do not fully understand your work flow and choice of equipment - am I right in presuming you are recording an analog signal from a record deck via preamp/amplifier with a DVD recorder on to an audio cd (Music disk)?

I suspect the problem may be because you are trying to import directly into ACL from the disc.  Try  ripping the Music disc to the PC, or copy the audio files to the PC - depending on what format they are in - before opening the files on the PC with ACL.

Have you tried using a Bluetooth headset?

The music discs are Maxell 'Music' RW. Made to be used in DVD recorders and have to be finalised before used in the PC. I have used these things for years. The TDK version is now out of production. I have had 100% success with them even with previous versions of Magix. They can be erased and used again many times.

Apparently there is a difference, I do not record in the DVD recorder to an audio disc. I record to a 'Music' disk as above.  I have a box that converts the signal from the turntable and makes it acceptable in the DVD recorder. In my ignorance I am saying that the audio signal finishes up as a digital signal.... and off we go.... analogue to digital!!

These disks are used e.g. by the BBC. These are not BOG standard audio CDRs. They cost more but pay back in convenience as for as my use for them is concerned

Thank you for your interest anyhow.

Hi

Thanks for your post re the 'Music disks'.  However whatever type of disc 'Music CD-RW' or any other CD-RW, there is no difference as far as the problem is concerned - the data on the disc being digital from the same source and digitising hardware.

I will rephrase part of my previous post:-

I suspect the problem is that something has changed in ACL MX so that it is not recognising the first track pointer of the disc, hence the jump to the second track.

Have you tried copying/ripping the tracks from the disc to your hard drive and then import them into ACL MX from hard drive?
