Audio Studio 17- Opens on Win 11 Home, But Not Win 11 Pro

Timothy-Pugh wrote on 4/10/2025, 6:52 PM

I just upgraded to Audio Studio 17, installed it successfully, but it will not open on my Windows 11 Pro machine. I also installed it on my Win 11 Home laptop, and it opens and works with no problems.. Am I missing something needed to make it work on my Pro machine? Thanks for any help with this.

So.. Sound Forge does not open at all? Were there any issues installing it? Are there any error messages? Do you have the subscription version of the perpetual version.
I do not recall other reports of this behavior so you might first try resetting SF and clearing the cache .. which is normally done through the 'File' menu, However, when SF will not open to access the reset command, there is an alternate procedure which does the same thing.. Hold down the 'Ctrl+Shift' keys, whilst launching SF, which should open the reset/clear cache tool. "Reset all preferences and clear cached data".
If that does not work, request a Magix support ticket.

I reset preferences and cleared the cache via the method you suggested with no success. I have a support ticket pending for this issue.

Thanks for your input and suggestions.

@Timothy-Pugh You can also check the Windows Reliability Monitor. Press the Windows key and R on your computer keyboard and type perfmon /rel into the textbox and press Enter. This will open the Reliability Monitor. You can see where crashes happened with the red X icon. If you double click on a crash it shows a detailed description.

Thanks for this tip! Thanks to this utility that I didn't know existed until you mentioned it, this led me to the specific cause of the crash and the faulty file. It also led me to another post that suggested that the Magix Low Latency Driver 2016 be deleted as it was conflicting with a BlackMagic video card on my system. Once I did this, Audio Studio now opens and functions normally.

Thank you for jump-starting me to a quick and easy resolution of this problem! I appreciate the benefit of your experience!
