Music Maker 2016

Windows 10

Realtek HD Audio Card.

Hi,

I am trying to record an electric guitar via a usb port.. The 'mic pnp' input registers the sound in the sound control panel but the stereo mix does not. I have enabled 'stereo mix' in the settings.I havealso tried disabling 'mic pnp' and only enabling 'stereo mix' to no avail.

I am able to record into Wavelab and Audacity but not MMM. Any advice gratefully received. Thanks

Hi

After setting a track up for audio recording click the cog wheel - arrowed below - to open the recording dialog

Open the Audio input dropdown - circled - and there you should find the USB device that the guitar is going through - in the image I do not have a USB converter plugged.

NOTE: if you use the Stereo mixer than you may have issues with any other sounds the computer makes also being recorded.

If the device is not there, then check that the USB device is correctly installed using Device Manager and also that you have the 32 bit driver for the device installed - you may have to get this from the manufacturers website.

Thanks for your quick response johnebaker.

The audio line in dialogue box only offers me 'Magix Low Latency 2016'. I am using an Alesis Guitarlink Plus which claims not to require drivers. There are no '!' indicators with the device in Device Manager.

I have now disabled stereo mixer.

Still no joy!!!

Hi

. . . . Alesis Guitarlink Plus which claims not to require drivers . . . .

The Guitarlink does need drivers - in this case they are standard USB audio drivers supplied and installed by Windows.

The problem, I suspect, is that Windows has installed 64 bit drivers when you need the 32 bit drivers to work with Music Maker.

Did you get a CD with the Guitarlink?  There should be a driver setup program on the disc it may mention ASIO driver.

If not then I would suggest you get in touch with Alesis support.

You could also install the ASIO4all drivers to see if this fixes the problem

Many thanks. I had previously tried, ASIO4ll drivers with no luck. I have now contacted Alesis support.

Thanks again.
