Audio out of sync

working with movie edit Pro - 16 Ver 15.0.0.90

I have imported a VOB file from a dvd.

I can see that there is a brief section of the imported file that plays in "fast forward" for approx 40 seconds. No sound plays during this section of video.

the regular speed video then resumes, but no audio is heard. after 40 seconds of video the sound then resumes but the audio resumes from the point at which the video had resumed at regular speed.

As a consequence the remaining video and audio is not in sync.

I have tested removing the section of "Fast Forward" video from the file but this had no effect.

Any ideas as to how this can be corrected.

Is there a way to strip out the audio and then attempt to re-insert and sync it up?

Regarding the app and version: I know it is an old program but it does everything I need. I work with old temperamental VOB files that were originally recorded on a Sony VHS recorder and then written to DVD's. I use the app to convert these to MP4s and it works just fine. I know there are updates. I have been hesitant to do the updates as I am concerned that the updates could have some impact on the apps ability to handle these old world VOB files.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Certainly! I'd just cut out the bad area, then, with the good clip to the right of the cut, click on it then click the "Ungroup" icon just above the timeline (the broken chain icon. You can then slide the audio (assuming you have video and audio on different tracks in Settings) left and right to line it up with the remaining video.

When you get it close to synched, You can fine-adjust the sync by right-clicking on the audio and choosing "set audio-video offset". The control actually changes the audio offset, not the video.

When you're happy with the sync, highlight both the video and audio (use the CTRL key) and regroup them by clicking on the closed chain icon.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.
