Audio interface issues.

Andrew-Ware wrote on 11/24/2024, 3:39 PM

I work for a small education centre and I have just installed music maker 2024 for some students who are interested in music production as an extra curricular activity. I donated my old behringer audio interface and for some reason the software doesn't recognise the device. I've tried selecting this in the settings, I've downloaded ASIO2 and still have no luck. Has anybody had, and managed to solve this problem? Also, would buying a new audio interface solve the problem as this is something I'm more than willing to do.

Thanks in advance.

Can you show a screenshot of your audio settings (from MM).
Questions. . .
Which device?  (I use the UCA222, and it's recognized, no problem.)
What Windows version?
Are there other devices also connected to this computer (possible conflict)?
Try a different usb port?
If you go to ControlPanel > Sounds, do you see the device there?  If yes, does it show up for other software, like Audacity or VLC Player?

@Andrew-Ware

I fully echo what @gjonny has written!

Especially about telling us exactly which Behringer interface you have. have you checked the Behringer site for any updated drivers etc?

@Andrew-Ware

Hi,

I've downloaded ASIO2

Did you try ASIO4All? Try it if there is no ASIO driver from Behringer for your interface.

@Andrew-Ware

Assuming you mean ASIO4All, has that enabled you to use the interface?

On this page on the Behringer site, under the Product Library>Software is a download link for ASIO4All, but I did notice this comment under the Reviews section:

Recording on PC does not work with Windows 11 while with Windows 10 everything is ok, has anyone encountered this problem?

There have been no replies, so far!

Hi Jeff

. . . . I did notice this comment under the Reviews section: Recording on PC does not work with Windows 11 while with Windows 10 everything is ok, has anyone encountered this problem? . . . .

Was the Windows 11 privacy setting Let desktop apps access microphone.... option mentioned?

@Andrew-Ware

In your first post you said "I donated my old behringer audio interface" meaning you had this device set up and working in another system? If yes, what are the differences between the 2 systems (old and problematic). Did you use Music Maker on the old system?

If you use the usb connection I think the device should show up in Windows Device Manager. It should also show in the Windows Sound settings. Does it? You would still need the ASIO4All driver for MM.

Thanks for suggestions everyone.

I used to use this audio interface with Garageband on my old Macbook. I think there's an issue with my interface and Windows 11. I'm just looking at buying another, but I'm struggling to find any that are compatible with Windows 11 in the description. Most just say that they work with PC or Mac. I'll probably just order one and hope for the best.

Cheers

@Andrew-Ware

Hi

Windows 11, possibly 10 as well , has 2 privacy features turned off by default which prevent 'desktop applications', and apps, accessing the microphone, though it can block all audio inputs, eg line in and external USB audio devices, not just the microphone, and similarly the Camera option for video input by capture cards etc.

I mentioned the setting in my previous post re the review @emmrecs linked to.

The settings are in Windows Settings, Privacy & security, Microphone (and Camera if required for video input) , the option Let desktop apps access your microphone (camera) needs turning on.

Once on and assuming the device drivers, or drivers such as ASIO4All are installed, the audio devices should be accessible.
