Audio Cleaning Lab 16 Deluxe won't start

  1. Microsoft Surface tablet running latest version of Windows 10. "The Instruction ay 0x1BC19eDD referenced memory ovBCD3E8EA. The memory could not be read". All attempts to restart the program have failed. Please help.

@Alan-Cox Try to set the compatibility mode of the program to Windows 7 and try to run it again. You can do this by right clicking on the program icon and opening the properties which let you set the compatibility mode.

If this does not work I would guess that Audio Clening Lab 16 is too old for Windows 10. It was released back in 2009. But if you still have a Windows 7 Computer I think it should run fine on it.

Thanks. I tried that but with no improvement. My Magix account shows I registered this software on 16th June 2016, which woulds have been only a few days after I bought it. Strange.

Thank you for your interest. I think we might be getting somewhere. Now I look more closely my June 2019 registration is marked on my Magix account as "Audio Cleaning Lab". Its serial number starts with P3-70523. The date tallies with when I bought my Windows Surface, for which I bought a new copy of the Magix software. BUT my previous registration, 30th July 2010, is marked as "Audio Cleaning Lab 16 deluxe" with a serial number starting with P2-25535, which on the face of it is earlier. I've just looked back on my Amazon account and I see my purchase there was detailed as "MAGIX Audio Cleaning Lab 2017". Do you think, for whatever reason, I've inadvertently bought an older version of the software thinking it was newer? Either way, what do you think I should do now?

@Alan-Cox Ok, you likely bought version 16 in 2010 and version 2017 in 2019.

I think Audio Cleaning Lab 2017 should work fine on Windows 10. Is this the version you have installed?

Please check also, that your Windows 10 installation is up to date.

I'm not sure if the problem was caused by ACL 2017 but there could also be a hardware problem. I think it is also a good idea to update all your drivers. You can use a tool like Snappy Driver installer Please make a system backup before using this tool in case anything goes wrong and you cannot afford to reinstall Windows 10. But usually it should work. I also use it on my computers.

Although I clearly thought I was buying ACL 17 in June 2019 I'm not at all sure now that's what I actually got. I can't "ask" the software now because I can't start it, and my Magix account simply says "Audio Cleaning Lab". My Windows 10 O/S is definitely up-to-date and as I don't have any external devices connected to my Surface tablet I don't think it's likely to be a driver issue. However, I only paid £19.99 for ACL 17 (?) back in June 2019 so it might be time to cut my losses and buy whatever the current version is. Could you tell me what that is, please, so I don't make the same mistake again? Thanks.

The current latest version of Audio Cleaning Lab is actually called Sound Forge Audio Cleaning Lab 3. You can find full details of it here.

@Alan-Cox If you follow the link of emmrecs you can download the free trial version. With this you can test if the software runs on your computer. But I still think you own version 2017 and that it should run fine on your computer.

If the computer cannot read memory from a certain address it could be a RAM, CPU or mainboard hardware problem. So I'm not sure that it isn't a hardware problem.

To be perfectly frank, I am about to give up on this program entirely! I would have thought a moderator to be more helpful than this so thanks for no help at all. I cannot get tech support in a timely fashion and now the guy who's job it is to moderate and HELP members is only telling me where I cannot post the bloody questions without so much as providing ANYTHING remotely close to assistance. What a load of *****!

I'm really not sure why being asked to start a new thread with full details of your problem is such a difficult task.

To be perfectly honest, your original post was, to say the least, difficult to understand; I'm not even sure exactly which program you are having a problem with, sorry.
