Are there some problems with the latest updates?

nitirowi wrote on 10/25/2016, 12:25 PM

I have recently purchased MAGIX Movie Edit Pro Premium 2017 and have been very happily using it for the last 14 days. [Using Windows 7, i5 processor, Radeon X1300/X1550 Series graphics]

However, since installing the "updates" yesterday (24 Oct 2016) I am unable to open and/or work on projects created prior to this with the whole program hanging. [I have submitted "crash log", but not sure how quickly there will be a response.]

I'm very frustrated as a deadline in approaching and I do not wish to have to start over again.

Has anyone else experienced problems with the updates?

Hi

What is the version number you are now patched to?  See under Help, About . . .

Did you install any Windows 7 updates yesterday?

There does appear to be a problem with/between the patch (and my computer) - just done a system restore and reverted back to version 16.0.1.22 (UDP3) and am now able again to open, edit and save projects.

Hi

I am on version 16.0.1.25 UDP3 and not getting any indication that there is an update available.

Try the following:

Right click the program shortcut and select Run as Administrator

Open an existing project.

If the project opens OK, then you can get the project completed using this method to run the program.

Longer term I suspect may need to re-install the program -  use this procedure, it was written for Windows 10 upgrade issues, however it will work for Windows 7  if you substitute the following for steps 4 and 5:-

4.  Press and hold down the Windows key and press the R key.

5.  Enter the word cmd in the run dialog box and press Enter or click OK

I have a similar issue with security settings on Windows 10, however mine started following a Win 10 update.

I am on version 16.0.1.25 UDP3 too (on Windows10). That is the latest version, correct? (not the 35 as a poster is writing)

Incorrect, 35 is the latest as I confirmed in my reply prior to yours.

Hi

So now there is another update 16.0.1.37 available (through the Program) Menu > Help > Update online.

Includes some more crash fixes in addition to the ones in .35, but I see .35 lists one of the problems the patch fixes is "Update online has disappeared" !! So I am not sure how you are supposed to download the .35 patch if you were on the .25 patch because the update on line option would be missing!!! There appears to be no way to get the patch without it because Magix Support site currently is not showing any patches for recent versions, to download manually. Maybe you could reinstall the program to an unpatched state and then just apply the .37 patch.

Thank you all for your responses - the new update to 16.0.1.37 appears to have resolved the the issues I've been having.

Have succesfully manage to export a project film without the program crashing
