Arabic texts

aziz.arabic wrote on 4/6/2014, 6:14 AM

I was disappointed when I wrote Arabic texts using "Magix Movie Edit Pro 2013 Plus". The letters appeared separated from one another in every single word, plus the letters that form the word change their position from left to right instead of right to left.

Just to let you know, I can write French, English and Arabic with Microsoft Office 2007 that is installed in my PC already.

What can I do? your assistance will be highly appreciated.

Hi

MEP has limited support for RTL (Right to left) languages.

There is no connection between Word and other programs with respect to language support.  The OS must support RTL languages - Windows does - and the individual programs must also support RTL languages.

An option you may consider if your a creating titles etc is to use images with the text on them and add them to the project.

Thanx John for your prompt response. Is it possible to copy an RTL text and paste it on a video (in the form of subtitles)? I tried this with Word Office. I didn't work. I don't know about Photoshop.

you said using images with texts can be an option. How is that? What are the steps I should follow to add a RTL language? How can you get rid of the background in the pic to leave only the text?

Sorry to bother you.

Thanx a million

Hi

Copy and pasting text particularly from Word does not work well because the Word formatting is also copied and you need to remove it.

Using images with text, I would do the following:-

1.   In an image editor , eg GIMP, Paintshop Pro, Photoshop,  create an image with a transparent background.

2.   Add the text as required setting the font size, colour etc.

3.   Save the image as a png file (the background transparency should be preserved).

Add the image to the timeline on a lower track at the point required and set its size, position and any animation as required.  The other tracks will show through the image because its background is transparent.

Tip: to get good sharp edges to the text set the image resolution at 150px/cm
