annoying clicking sound

Hi,am a beginner and would be grateful if someone can tell me how to removie an annoying background clicking sound(which repeats itself regularly at intervals)....It all started when i reinstalled the software.its pretty frustrating coz even without loading any arragment or beat its still there ...any help.Am using  magix music maker 17 on an i7 hp elitebook laptop,windows 8.1,

try changig the driver settings to either WASAPI or ASIO.
