Analog Synths not working

ParadoxMM wrote on 2/12/2019, 10:53 AM

I had purchased a new MIDI pack and was trying it out in MAGIX Music Maker to see how one of the files sounded when played through Analog Synths as one of its Strings presets. However, when I tried to select Analog Aynths, this error message popped up.

Has anyone else seen this or know what to do about it?

I am using the most up to date version of MAGIX Music Maker with the 2019 Premium Edition.

@ParadoxMM

Hi

The message would suggest you have run out of free space on the c: drive or do not have the correct permissions to create the necessary file(s) the Synth needs.

Check how much free space is available on the c: drive.

Try running the program with administrator rights - right click the program shortcut and select Run as administrator.

I don't believe it is a space issue. I have 364 GB free on my main hard drive and a 100 GB SSD. I tried running it as administer and got a pop-up like this every time I try using Analog Synths.

I decided to look under Store > Download all purchased content..., and I found there were some instruments and features that needed to be redownloaded for some reason. I'm going to download the items and see if that fixes it.

Hi,

Yes, make sure that all of your instruments are downloaded AND installed. It is a 2-step process. That is probably why Analog Synths didn't work.

Good luck,

Nope, not the problem. I just found out Drum Engine isn't working either. Same issue as with Analog Synths. The few instruments it tells me I need to download are neither Drum Engine or Analog Synths, and I'm pretty sure I already downloaded and installed every instrument I had in my library. Not really sure what is going on, might just try reinstalling the program if I can't figure out a different solution.

Hi Jacob,

How are you trying to assign these instruments? Are you trying to pick them from the track header menu by any chance (rather than from the "Instruments" tab)?

Essentially, these error message are somewhat misleading. From our experience, they typically come up if a Vita solo instrument is locally installed on the system, but Music Maker is currently not authorised to use, because you don't own the instrument through your MAGIX in-app store account. Unfortunately, they will still be shown in the track header as options. However, if you find those same instruments in the "Instruments" tab of your mediapool, you will probably see that they are marked with a padlock icon, when you hover over the respective tiles with your mouse cursor. So, now you basically just need to ask yourself why Music Maker won't let you use those instruments:

  • Are you not logged into the Music Maker in-app store system with the correct account under which you own that item? => Make sure to log in.
  • Was the instrument installed by some other MAGIX program or older Music Maker version but hasn't been authorised for use via the in-app store system? Was it e.g. installed by a copy of Samplitude Music Studio? => Depending on the program, you may be able to redeem the serial number for that product in the "Activate Edition" dialogue of Music Maker to unlock the bundled instruments via the in-app store.
  • Was the instrument installed in some other way, e.g. via the Vita solo instrument add-on options previously offered on www.magix.com?

Maybe this already helps to sort you out. If not, feel free to contact our support about this, so they can have a closer look at the situation and what's actually going on in your account. Thanks!

I have tried assigning them through both means and they both bring up that same message

So, now you basically just need to ask yourself why Music Maker won't let you use those instruments:

I do own it because I "purchased" them using coupons back when I first purchased MAGIX Music Maker Premium in 2018 (for clarification, I have both 2018 and 2019 premium editions), and haven't had a problem using them until now. So they are from the in-app store, and they have the authorization to use the instruments, or at least they did before. They aren't locked, I did have a problem with instruments doing that before, though. That has since been fixed.

  • Are you not logged into the Music Maker in-app store system with the correct account under which you own that item? => Make sure to log in.

I am definitely signed in, otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to download anything like I said I was yesterday.

Was it e.g. installed by a copy of Samplitude Music Studio? => Depending on the program, you may be able to redeem the serial number for that product in the "Activate Edition" dialogue of Music Maker to unlock the bundled instruments via the in-app store.

I did have it from a previous Premium edition, but that is activated and was working just fine. I have everything installed on my laptop as well (the problem being with my desktop PC), and there are no issues with using these instruments.

  • Was the instrument installed in some other way, e.g. via the Vita solo instrument add-on options previously offered on www.magix.com?

The instruments were installed via the in-app store.
