An error occured while writing the project file - cannnot find BAK9.MV-

hjcosier wrote on 2/1/2016, 2:36 AM

Running MEP 2015 V14.00176(UDPP3) on a WIN7 i5 PC.

I have deleted all but the last BAKx.MV- files as I thought they were not needed. Now when I export movie as an MPEG-4, part way thru it gives multiple errors, cannot find the *BAK(0-9).MV- file.

Are all these files necessary? I thought they were a safeguard only?

What can I now do to export my movie?

Hi

Please do not post the same question - if you do not get a reply to a question then it is likely no one has experienced this issue or offer a solution.

Try the following:

  1. Open the project in MEP and select File, Manage Movies, Export . ... - save the export file with a new name - this will create a MVD file.

  2. Restart MEP and create a new project.

  3. Delete the empty timeline by clicking on X on the timeline tab.

  4. Select File, Manage movies, Attach - locate the MVD file saved above and attach it to the project.

  5. Save the project with a new name.

  6. Export to MP4.

In your case it sounds like the project is not saving correctly and is relying on the backup files - although you should be getting a warning asking you locate and load a backup file, or you have not saved the project at all and deleted the backups before saving.

The backup files should not be deleted while the project is open.  They can be deleted when  you have finished the project and have successfully saved and reloaded the it.

Thanks for your suggestions John, I tried exporting as an MVD file, then loading as you suggested, but had the same result.

I found eventually just one clip caused an error, which then had a flow on effect of 20 or 30 repetitive errors all unable to load BAK(0-9).MV_ files.  It couldn't find the BAK files because I was saving them to an external USB hard drive, and the drive letter had changed from G: to H:  This was easily fixed by going into Settings and changing the path to the new drive letter.

I hope this helps others who might have the same problem.

Regards,  Howard.
