bobg5385,

First a question -- just what do you men by a 'template'? If you mean the format settings for export, an answer requires further information such as how you are going to get your video journal to your family.

Are you going to burn a DVD and post it? Then you are limited to the DVD standard(s), mpeg PAL for USA and a few choices of pixel resolution for regular or high definition on a blueray disc. MEP will provide default setting when you go to the 'Burn' menu eg whatever your source material it will be recoded to the disk standard.

If you are planning to send a video file as an e-mail attachment then there are many more choices (mpeg, windows media, quicktime etc)  limited mostly to the available 'bandwidth' eg can you regularly send a gigabyte file? Under 'File' >> 'Export movie' are a set of options each with their own advanced settings. I'd check what sorts of video files your family typically view on the PCs and match the specs.

Another option would be posting to U-tube etc; probably setting up an account with access only to those you choose. Depending on you MEP version, there may be a direct to U-tube export option, or export and send to utube on your own.

Hope this is some help,

Carl

Template means, all that I have to do it drop the video that I shoot into the time line that I have blank.

I am working on a standard intro and so that way I can keep a running journal for when I get back so I can see everything that I have done throughtout the year, or just burn it to a dvd and send back to my family inthe states.

Does this help??
