Adverts, nagware, update reminders...

I've been using Xara Designer since it was Artworks back when the Internet was in its infancy and you needed an Acorn computer to run it. It's always been a really fast and intuitive pioece of software to use and I've always done my best to keep updated. I am now seriously considering moving away from this software because of the nagging! I know my update licence has expired and I don't need to be reminded every single time I load the software. I also don't need to know about the latest discounts, offiers, templates etc. EVERY time I load the software. How can I turn off these reminders and nag screens and get them to stay off? Is it even possible?

@David-Brooks

Hi

In Windows settings, Apps look for Magix Cloud (formerly Update notifier, Magix Connect and Network Sync) and uninstall it.

The nag dialogue box that appears when Designer Pro’s update service has expired can be suppressed by adding an outgoing rule in the Windows firewall.

The exact IP address to block depends on version of Designer Pro.

I am on an expired Designer Pro 18.5 18.5.0.62892  DL x64 Aug 11 2021 and I do not get the nag dialogue box when I start the program.

This is because I have set an outgoing rule in the Windows firewall to block C:\Program Files\Xara\Xara Designer Pro X\18\DesignerPro.exe access to IP address 167.71.131.225

Thank you both for the really useful comments. I will look at both these options and keep on using this software. Apologies for the rant, the software is still brilliant, but the reminders are so annoying!

, but the reminders are so annoying!

You have precisely zero argument from me on that one.

The only reason I worked out the firewall thing is because I’ve worked in the IT industry. Those who have not might have had a difficult time finding that work-a-round.
