adjusting videos on the same slideshow project

pat-m98 wrote on 11/20/2015, 6:31 PM

MEP premium.

I have two videos on my slideshow backgrounds

#1-from an Ipad, Frame width 568, Frame Hieght-320, Data Rate-726kbps, bitate-789Kbps, 29 frames per

#2-from my iphone. Frame width 1920,Frame Hieght-1080,Data Rate-21706Kbps, Bitrate-21770Kbps,29 frames per

Problem- #1 is not a crisp clear pic like #2. Can I adjust my project settings to fix #1 without it adjusting #2? Or just bite the bullet and retake my #1 video? I sorta had this same question before but i was just questioning a single video on one project.

Hi Pat

This is because video #1 has a resolution of 568 x 320 pixels, and #2 1920 x 1080 and I suspect your project is set to 1920 x 1080.  The smaller video is being expanded to fill all the pixels available which makes the image go soft / pixellated.

. . . . . Can I adjust my project settings to fix #1 without it adjusting #2. . . .

Yes and No.  Either way will always result in one of the videos being adjusted.

Of more concern is whether the final video is to be exported / burned to Standard definition (SD) / DVD 720 x 576 (PAL) or 720 x 480 (NTSC) or HD  1280 x 780 or Full HD  1920 x x1080 or UHD 3840 x 2160

If you are exporting SD / burning a DVD then the finished video will look better for video #1 although it will  appear softer / slightly pixellated due to being expanded by approx 50%.

If using any of the higher resolutions image #1 is going to get worse the more it is expanded to fill the available screen resolution.

The best fix for this problem is to shoot all your video at the same resolution I would recommend nothing less than 1920 x 1080, unless you intend to make UHD video in which case shoot at 3840 x 2160

Which option in the Burn dialog are you selecting - DVD, Blu-Ray or AVCHD disc?
