Adjusting pitch of instruments

JayGee716 wrote on 8/25/2018, 8:31 PM

I'm using MMM 27.0.0.16 with an M Audio Keystation 49 MIDI keyboard along with my Alesis Recital Pro 88 Piano. I'm having terrible pitch issues between the software instruments and my piano. The Alesis has pitch adjustments in ±12 half-tones but I just cannot get the two to match. From what I have seen, none of the software instruments have any kind of pitch control and the MIDI adjustments really aren't helping either. It's strange but I didn't have this issue in the older version of MMM.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

one major pitch accuracy setting is to keep your sound card settings in windows audio properties to 16 bit 44.1 khz , or at 24 bit 44.1 khz . the synth's samples were recorded at 24 bit 44.1 khz . To keep the MIDI clock accurate , the sound card needs to be set to 44.1 khz and the MM Project should use 44.1 hkz .

one time with Samplitude Music Studio , 96khz really offset the True pitch . even using 48 khz can offset the pitch by about 10 % .

I use windows sound card settings of 24 bit 44.1 khz , with MM Project setting of 44.1 khz . and I render out as 44.1 khz . best CD audio quality possible , from MM ( .wav or .FLAC ,...usually .wav )

I use the Magix ASIO ( 1 + 2 ) driver , with On-board Realtek sound card and external speakers .

( went back to MM25.1.3.84 2018 )

Thanks! I'll try that and post back.

For some reason I can't get any ASIO driver to work except for the Soundblaster ASIO 1+2 for my sound card. It's a Soundblaster X-Fi Pro 5 1 HD USB card

I have to admit, I'm still kinda new at the whole ASIO and MIDI game. Using either the Magix or the ASIO4ALL I can't get any output. I can see movement on the level meter on MM but nothing from my speakers

I finagled with the settings under Audio/MIDI but had no luck.

I have the x-FI Pro 5.1 USB too . I tried using Creatives ASIO , but it never worked as good as others, for some reason .

I get really good results using On-board Realtek using Magix ASIO ( 1 + 2 ) .

a while ago , I stop using the x--Fi Pro 5.1 USB with Music Maker . that just didn't work good for me .

however , other USB headsets do work good .

@JayGee716

Hi

. . . . I can see movement on the level meter on MM but nothing from my speakers . . . .

Try this solution here - in the dropdown select the Soundblaster card should be available

Thanks to both of you. Sorry I haven't been able to get back to this Believe it or not I've been having trouble with another Magix app, Movie Edit Pro Premium which has kept me busy for the last couple of days. Have been trying to get it to update to v 18.0.0.205 and it just wasn't cooperating. Finally got it done this evening so I'll get back to MMM tomorrow.

I'll post back after I try your solutions. Thanks again!

I tried using the WASAPI driver but it will not allow me to choose any card except the onboard Realtek. The Soundblaster looks like an available option but clicking on it does not select it

To use the Realtek requires delving deeper into my system settings than I have time to do right now.

I'll finagle with it this evening when I have more time.
