@JANET-NICOLAS

Hi

. . . . Can I use purchased material from Itunes for example . . . .

This depends on the terms and conditions of use for the music you purchased.- you smay find these in the listings for the music you wan to use or in your Apple account.

If the files have DRM (Digital Rights Management) attached then they will only play in Apple apps, ie they cannot be used by any other program/player.

Depending on the version of Photostory you have, you may have the Magix Hub option in Photostory

There are many websites/music providers where you can get, for free, or a low cost, music for use in your videos, eg Pixabay, Free stock music and many more.

Thank you. I have purchased tunes from ITunes, but Photostory says it cannot play them. I do not uderstand what the Magix Hub option is. I have the latest version of PS

@JANET-NICOLAS

Photostory says it cannot play them

That is because, as John wrote in his reply to you, If the files have DRM (Digital Rights Management) attached then they will only play in Apple apps, ie they cannot be used by any other program/player.  Unfortunately, purchasing them from iTunes does not give you the right to use them elsewhere, sorry.

For the Magix Hub, see my screenshot below and, on the same screen on your computer, click on the highlighted object.

Thank you for your prompt reply. Do you know where I CAN purchase them? I presume from what you say that Apple has a sales outlet on line...

emmrecs wrote on 2/3/2025, 3:35 AM

@JANET-NICOLAS

I don't think there is any such thing as an Apple sales outlet on line, sorry, to make tracks available to all devices and software! They want you to exclusively use Apple products!

Have you accessed the Magix Hub to see what is available to you there? And have you followed John's advice about other sites where music can be downloaded either free or at very low cost?

There are (strictly "illegal") methods by which you could "use" your iTunes tracks in PS but it is not within the scope of this forum to discuss how this can be done!

@JANET-NICOLAS @johnebaker

Hello, welcome

As John has mentioned your best bet is to pop over to Pixabay where you can acquire copyright free music under various genres to suit your applications.

Thank you both. I did just that, but they have a limited selection. I wanted a couple of tracks which are copyrighted for sure. Happy to pay for them, but I'm worried about signing up and downloading stuff to my computer. I'm 80 years old and not that savvy computerwise -as no doubt you've worked out from my pleas of help.

I've contacted Magix but received no reply, to a recurring problem. Their huge SALE advert has installed itself on my computer and won't go away. I've tried a reset to no avail. Any ideas? I think it's pretty unprofessional of them to allow their advertising to do this. Have you any experience of this?

@JANET-NICOLAS It's legal to create a private backup copy of the music you purchased. For example, you can simply connect an audio cable from the audio output of your computer to the audio input and record the signal in a free audio recording software like Audacity. This doesn't break the DRM protection and is therefore fine.

You are so kind. However; I don't think I'd manage the process. I looked at the Magix hub, but it seemed very limited. I'll have another look.

Technically, this is true but, if @JANET-NICOLAS is intending to use any such copies in a PS project which is then exported and available to others to view, I am not sure that such usage would be considered private.
