Adding a voice-over does not work

David-Bailey5314 wrote on 2/13/2025, 9:21 AM

When I press the red audio record button, the Movie Studio 2025 Platinum crashes with the error message "KERNELBASE.dll" with a string of addresses, etc. The program will input the recorded audio from the camera source but I cannot add any extra audio through an external microphone. I can use that microphone for dictation in other programs but not in Magix. I have tried re-installing Magix without any improvement. Any suggestions, please

Hi

. . . . I cannot add any extra audio through an external microphone. . . .I can use that microphone for dictation in other programs.

Windows has 2 options for allowing access to the microphone, one for Windows Apps and one for desktop Apps.

Check in the Windows settings, Privacy & Security, Apps Permissions, Microphone that the second option Let desktop apps access your microphone, scroll down to see this option, is turned on.

Is the microphone plugged into the computer sound card or a USB mic?

In either case, is the appropriate input selected for recording?

From personal experience, a rare occurrence with Realtek audio is the Microsoft drivers may have 'restricted' the inputs that can be used, see if there are drivers available from Realtek.

. . . . I have tried re-installing Magix without any improvement . . . .

If a program is running fine except for a single issue such as the above, never do this, it can only compound the issue you are having.

Thank you, John. Yes, that did the trick all right.
