Hi,

You can acquire directly from the mini DV use in the camera: (Read your manual)

1) To do, close the min DV this is a specific function on DVD to play after in a player (Close or Terminate) check this on your camera menu (no confusion with format because format erase all data on DVD)

2) After the close function you can use in standard DVD player.

3) Use MEP to import the video file in your software.

4) Make to montage.

Hi

That depends on the outputs available on the DVCAM.

If it has composite and audio outputs then you should be able to capture with the Grabby direct into MEP - you will have to start and stop plyback on the camera manually.

If the camera has only a DV output (ie IEEE1394 / Firewire) then you cannot use the Grabby, you will need a Firewire card to do this - this also gives you control of the camera from the PC.

You should, in theory, be able to put the miniDV disc into your computer's DVD drive and read it .

Also you may have some software which came with the camera to transfer video from disc to PC.

As Yvon Robert says - consult your camera manual for more information.

Hi

. . . the program says it doesn't see the camera. . . .

Going through the Grabby it will not see the camera - you set the recording source to Video not Camera,  then select the Grabby for video and audio input as shown in this image (this is for my old KWorld device so the audio is set to my sound card - you set the Grabby here)
