ACL crashes on start up - too fast to see error message

Henri-Krishna wrote on 11/6/2020, 6:38 AM

Been using this version of ACL since 2016. Currently installed on windows 10 laptop.

Haven't used ACL for about a month. Start it up today and loads but a message flashes up for an instant, too fast for me to see, before ACL crashes.

Have done multiple reinstalls and removed recent windows and other updates, but still same problems.

Anyone else seeing the same or any suggestions?

Try a right click on the program icon and change compatibility mode under the properties to Windows 8 or 7. Maybe this will help.

Thanks for suggestion but no joy. Tried it all the way down to XP but still same happening, ie message flashes up and crashes before time to see what it says. Think always used this version of ACL with windows 10.

I could be that Windows 10 installed an update that broke ACL 2016 and now it isn't running anymore. Maybe check if there was an update and try uninstalling it. https://www.techradar.com/how-to/how-to-uninstall-a-windows-10-update

Be sure to make a backup of your data before uninstalling something in case something is going wrong.

I'd tried that (ie removing all recent windows 10 updates) and reinstalling ACL, and have just done it again for good measure but no change.

Right by a process of elimination (given the message flashed up too quick to see what it was saying before ACL crashed), I worked out that this is the solution: https://www.magix.info/us/support/article/error-message-cannot-find-the-name-of-idgl-driver--430/
