ACL 4, trouble with recordings, getting distorted sound

Jim-Wong wrote on 1/4/2024, 2:00 PM

Originally, I have the Audio Cleaning Lab 16 Deluxe, works fine on my old Windows 10 pc for a long time. I changed new pc with Windows 11, reinstalled the software, tried to do new recording, but sounds are distorted, sounded like all musical instruments sound are missing, vocals only and distorted. I download the trial version of ACL 4 and symptom did not change. I need help to get this working. My source of audio is Parasound Zphono USB, settings 2 channel, 16 bit, 44100 Hz, pc input setting also setup with the same settings. ... btw, I tested the Audacity free ware on this new pc and it works and sounded okay. I don't think the problem with my Parasound Zphono USB unit... I don't know what's missing for the ACL setups or required certain firmware? Please help, Thanks in advance.

@Jim-Wong In the Recording Settings window there is an option to select the Audio Input. Which settings have you selected and are there other options available to you other than the one you have selected?

The only Audio input choice I have is Microphone 2 - USB audio CODEC. This device popped up when I plugged in my Parasound Zphono USB unit.

@Jim-Wong

Hi

. . . . The only Audio input choice I have is Microphone 2 - USB audio CODEC . . . .

That is the correct device name for the ZPhono unit, check that the ACL input options @SP. pointed to above are the same as the device is outputting.

Yes, the ACL4 audio input is pointed to the same device with the same settings of Stereo, 16 bit and 44100Hz
