ACID 9 will not import both tracks of a midi file

TonyO wrote on 5/16/2020, 6:03 PM

I downloaded a MIDI file from the internet and loaded into a music notation program. After editing it, I saved it as a midi file. It is a piano midi file (Treble clef and Bass clef). When I import it into ACID 9, it only imports the bass clef. It is a Type 1 midi file. I did the tutorial on importing Midi files, and it makes no mention of having to do anything special to import both clefs. Not sure if both clefs are on one track or separate tracks. Usually both clefs are on one track because it is played by one instrument (Piano). When I load the midi file into Music Maker it loads and plays both clefs, so it is an ACID 9 issue.

Thanks for your help

Just so I understand this correctly, if you had both Bass and Treble clefs at one point, then converted them into a Midi File? I would think that would be two separate midi files, so only one will open as a midi file, that is if acid Pro even opens it successfully. Just so you know, Acid Pro is still full of bugs. Not a complete DAW yet.

@TonyO

Hi

. . . . When I load the midi file into Music Maker it loads and plays both clefs . . . .

That suggests that the two clefs are assigned to different MIDI channels within the MIDI file, Music Maker will combine these into one MIDI object, hence you hear both.

It is a very long long time ago since I used Acid, however IIRC, multi channel MIDI should import with each channel on a separate track - there may be a setting in Acid for this.
