a Step by Step solution to LP recording with Magix Audio Cleaning Lab 2014 required.

Durn wrote on 11/20/2014, 10:30 AM

After using “Polderbits Software” for many years to copy vinyl I had to move to another solution because of the demise of  Polderbit.
I have chosen Magix Audio Cleaning Lab 2014 partly because I use other Magix products which I find to be excellent. However, the relatively simple task of copying an LP using Polderbits has change into one almighty “challenge” when using ACL2014. I fully understand that this is most likely a learning curve problem, but all attempts to

Import, and track separate a LP with Magix ACL2014 have failed.

If there is an idiots guide out there in the form of a simple step by step instruction or a Ytube video please let me know before I give up and move to another solution. The supplied ACL2014 is too disjointed and centred toward its flagship product to be of much use when trying to resolve what should be a simple 3 step solution.

Hi John

Have opened the PDF file at page 39 LP/Cassette/speech recording and again followed instructions supplied.

Have been able to obtain a successful  import which meets my needs in terms of sound qualitiy.

However, the view within the project windows shows all the individual tracks from the LP but with no track markers. When I move to export, I have one large file and Have not found a way to seperate the individual   tracks so that they can be burnt onto a  CD as seperate tracks. Again polderbits allowed this to be carried seamlessly so I am sure that this facility must be available within Magix ACL2014.

Regards

Hi Brian,

I don't have ACL2014, only AML2014 which is similar. You should be on the tab that says "Vinyl" for recording from a record. Click on the settings button and make sure that you have checked "Auto CD track recognition." This will automatically place markers between the songs, so long as there is a pause. Check them afterwards to make sure that they are all correct. Sometimes it misses one or inserts one where it shouldn't be.

Here is what the manual says:

Automatic CD track recognition: If this button is activated, then track markers are automatically placed at the end of the pauses after a track. In order for pause recognition to function seamlessly, you will have to set the proper source in the selection box (LP, cassette, CD, or Internet). You can specify the detection parameters even further using theAutomatic track marker recognition optionsin the Options menu.

There is no other separation required.

See below.

When you have the track markers at the correct locations, press "L" to open the ID3-Editor and fill in the information. Note that you only need to do the Artist, Album, Year and Genre once, then press "Apply to all' and they will show up for every track. Type the name in the "Name" box and go to the next track on the list, etc.

Hi browj2

Many thanks for you detailed answer. I had already identified the paths suggested and had made a number of recordings. However, as stated was unable to get Track markers inserted.

I decided to re-follow your instruction “to the letter” again as was disappointed that track markers still failed  to be inserted. However, I stumbled upon the “Set track marker automatically” under the CD drop down menu. I activated this option (Ctrl M) and success. Why this option does not work when selected within the “settings “windows I do not know. But I have tested the Ctrl M option a number of times and is seems to work. Again many thanks for the response and assistance
