"A memory allocation request failed. . . " Menu BG

Using MEP 2015 on Win7

I've used Magix Video deluxe, MEP MX and now MEP2015 over quite a number of years. It has faults surely (such as only recognizing fonts installed from the Win Font folder) but I can live with that. What I can't live with is the message
"A memory allocation request failed. maybe there is no memory available or an internal error has ocurred"

whenever I attempt to use my own JPG for the Chapter menu BG. I mean, c'mon, this isn't a big deal.

The problem comes and goes. Sometimes it works OK (actually it was almost always OK until this year) and then it comes again, always when I'm up against a deadline and can't wait to see if it will correct itself.

In looking through the posts I've found complaints about this occurring as far back as 2010, but no one seems to have gotten an answer. Any suggestions?

Hi

. . . . In looking through the posts I've found complaints about this occurring as far back as 2010, but no one seems to have gotten an answer. . . . .

There are many factors which can cause this error, and may not be caused by Movie Edit Pro, such as other programs not releasing memory until the computer runs out of available memory, a Windows installation problem etc.

. . . . actually it was almost always OK until this year . . . .

Something has changed eg a new program installation, change of AntiVirus, change of computer components eg RAM.

Have you done a total shutdown and cold start of the computer?

How big is the jpg you are trying to use?  If it is, for example, direct from a digital camera or very large you may need to resize it to the same resolution as the project.

Thank you Johnebaker for your prompt answer.  There is one thing that's right on the button, and that was the size of it, which I never much thought about. It was indeed too large, and in the future I will always go to that first.

As it is, I had to make a workaround. I had created the original BG with the correct format, but in that it was rather large in size, I started shrinking it. Oddly enough it was not "accepted" even when I got it down to a size a bit smaller than some of the Magix suppplied BGs. I think Magix had already put the name of this file on its sh!t list. So I took a larger BG that WAS accepted, duplicated it leaving the name the same except for "Copy" and pasted my BG graphic on top of it. Tada!

And BTW I've just gotten a full subscription to Adobe so I have installed several (not all of them) Adobe programs in the meantime. That could have had some influence, who knows.
Thank you again.
