A Device ID has been used that is out of range for your system?

Referring to Rankamateurs question.

I´m in the middle of prepairing a movie about our ten days holiday trip. Because of some problems with Windows 10 I was 5.5.2016 obliged to reinstall it and also Magix Movie Edit Pro 2016 + some update.

Before that I had prepared and saved several days/projects of that movie.

However after reinstalling I met unexpected problems with MEP:

Videos:

Trying to play the projects the message was: The playback device "none" cannot play back this format! Reason: A device ID has been used that is out of range for your system.

In the video monitor the preview of videos doesn´t work, only pictures can be previewed. There is also no sound.

The playback tab under the video monitor doesn´t work (actually there is no tab.), but keys (k and l) in the keyboard work. The problem is that the videos in the arranger act too fast and there is no sound.

Recording:

In recording the message was: Waveform output device cannot record this format! And the reason is as above.

I also visit the program settings for checking eg. output device, but found that the box is empty and it was not possible to change anything.

So that was all I could do and after that I was totally confused.

The operating system is Windows 10 Home.

Graphics Card NVIDIA Ge Force GTX 645

Processor AMD A10 - 6700 APU.

Could somebody help me forward in my desperate situation?

Mathew

Not an answer, but I have same problem.  Edit Pro 2015 windows 10,  had been working fine, and now no playback, getting the same error messages about "no device", and there is no where to fix it in the "settings".

Maybe it is something in the waveform output--wherever that is located...

Oh, I had this same problem about 3 months ago. I searched endlessly for  a remedy--FIVE weeks. It was somepidding little thing, which even my computer-illiterate self was able to do. Guess what? I neglected to save that answer, never imagining it would happen again, since MMM has worked perfectly on this computer for 3 years. Well, it HAS happened again. I am aggravated beyond words, ESPECIALLY that Magix does not have an easy fix readily available.

BTW, mine is STRICTLY an audio recoring problem. I came up with a great lyric with music yesterday. Despite singing it endlessly, until I went to bed, I am unable to recall the tune today. Color me very angry.

for mhkale      I just fixed it.  Under Settings, I clicked the Reset Program Default Settings. The program closes itself and then reopens.  Now it gives the create a new project or open existing----I opened the "Demo" project.

(Not mine, Demo is an MEP project).  Not all of the files were there, I chose skip all and let it play----and it did.

Now all my movies open and play.

I had tried this before many times to no avail.  The difference this time was playing the "Demo" project.  Whether that fixed it, or MEP just felt like working this time, I have no idea.      Yesterday I uninstalled, reinstalled, updated MEP two times to no avail.  So bottom line, I have no idea why it works other than yet again re setting the program defaults in File and Settings---and then having the "Demo" as an option to open existing project.   I'm going to write this down for next time.   I also have a new computer with Win 10.  This seems to be a program issue perhaps because of Win 10--I don't know.    Pete O

Thanks for polander3 and bfb3. It´s nice to note that I´m not the only one with MEB problems. I shall use your methods to fix the problem :)  Actually also my Windows 10 failed, so that´s my first problem now.

polander3, I don't see settings unless I first click "FILE." THEN, I see "Settings information." After clicking that, I see (among other options) "System settings." By clicking that, IO am taken to "Properties." Nowhere is the word "Default" mentioned. I clicked every tab--system, video, audio, and import--and each option within the tabs.

Never saw the word "Default." Though I don't recall what I did before, I knew this wasn't it, but was hoping it might work. Thnx.

After struggling with this issue for a while (including reinstalling the app), I stumbled upon the solution. It appears that this error will occur when there is nothing plugged into the headphone / speaker jack. As soon as I plugged in my headphones into the speaker jack and restarted the application, problem solved. Hope this helps!!

@Joe-Aguiar

Hi

Please do not resurrect old topics - this one is 3 years old and Movie Edit Pro is now at version 2019 - 3 versions on since the original post.

I will lock this topic.
