6 Picture Photo Collage Transition Speed

ddlldrinc wrote on 10/18/2015, 1:50 PM

Help... Not understanding how to change the speed of a transition in a 6 pic photo collage. I have searched the forum and I'm not understanding how to do this via keyframes or if using keyframes is the most efficient option.  is there a tutorial on this?  Can you provide a step by step solution?

Hi,

Are you sure your product is Mobile Movie Creator ?

I don't have that program, but I thought it was just a converter allowing you to play videos on a mobile device? Your question appears to be about editing.

Sorry about that.  The program that I am using is Movie Edit Pro Plus 2016.

OK, I thought so. Then you need to provide much more information unless you want us to guess exactly what you're doing!

Start with the version of MEP that you're using. And take a look at this sticky too:

If you're using a 6-object collage in a recent version of MEP, which one is it?

I am using MEP Version 2016 plus.  The 6 Photo Collage I am using came preloaded in the program.  There is only one 6 Photo Collage Template.  All I am trying to do is to speed up the transition from one photo in the collage to the next.

I'm not at my PC right now to give you an illustration, but that should be simple enough. Just ungroup all six photos and the spacer in track 1 (which you can delete anyway, to tidy things up) and then just carefully move each one as required. Basically you just close the gaps, and trim the lengths. Trial and error will no doubt be needed to get it customised exactly to suit you.

An alternative approach is to export just the collage section as a video clip -- resolution to match you final output. Then bring it in to replace the collage bits on the timeline and change its play length as desired.

If you want to follow the suggestions in Terry's post, you need to make sure that all the keyframed effects are linked to their object length:

Note that you can do this to 'Image size/position' rather than X-pos, Y-pos etc.

If this is not done then time taken for the effect will remain unchanged even though you change the play length of the clip/image. Say a collage makes an object slide in from the left over two seconds and then zoom to double size over the next two seconds. If the keyframes are not linked to length and you trim the clip to two seconds you will only see the horizontal movement, not the zoom.

Bit of an embarrassment that I did a lot with collages years ago but now I'm scratching my head for details!

Thanks all for your suggestions.  Its been a crazy time for at the moment and I have not had the time to try out your suggestions.  Nonetheless, as soon as I can devote some time to trying them out.  I will report back my findings.

Thanks again.
