3rd party vst plugin not showing up (BIAS FX)

Peter-Goodwin wrote on 6/4/2020, 4:37 AM

Hi there, I bought the "Creative Suite" package last week and I'm trying to add the guitar vst plugin of my choice (BIAS FX) but when i try to add the vst path through the folders tab in the settings window, I would have expected it to be added to the instruments tab in the media pool section or in the FX tab on the track it self. but its not showing up. I'm so confused๐Ÿ˜•

I then found out that Music Maker only supports 32bit vst plugins, so i uninstalled the 64bit version and then installed the latest 32bit version making sure i reset the vst plugin file path to the BIAS FX.dll. Its still not working๐Ÿ˜ž

If anyone could lead me in the right direction i would be forever thankful.

My Details:

Magix Music Maker v28.0.3.51

Windows 10 Home x64 version 1903 OS Build 18362.836

Intel Core i9 9900k cpu

32gb ram

nvme ssd 1tb

@Peter-Goodwin

Welcome to the Magix forums.

When you checked the "Instruments" tab did you scroll right to the end of those installed but not as far as the list of those you can purchase? On my system I see my third-party VSTis listed in alphabetical orderย in that first part of the list.

Hi Jeff, thank you for your prompt reply,I've attached an image of what i see, i only have the 6 plugins i bought through the magix store with the credits i got from the creative suite, and the free ones.

@Peter-Goodwin

Thanks for the image.

I think we need to backtrack a little.

On the Program Settings>Folders tab, what did you set for "Add VST plug-in path"? If you navigate, in Windows Explorer, to that folder, is that where you placed the. dll?

Having checked up about Bias FX, I think I see now where the problem might be! If everything noted about the location of the .dll is correct, because it is an effect, (I had completely erroneously thought it was an instrument) it should show up if you:

  1. Click on the FX button on any trackย
  2. Select "Audio FX Rack Track"
  3. On the screen that opens, bottom left, click on the "+" sign.
  4. At the bottom of the list that opens you should see "VST FX". Bias should be listed, and clickable to access, there.
